Geckos

Crested geckos were discovered in the late 1860's. They were thought to have gone extinct due to the isolated area they are endemic from. The small islands northeast of New Caledonia in the Pacifica area were still unexplored. In 1994 when a team of scientists and biologists went to study the species, climate, and life in the area, and rediscovered the crested gecko species. To date, the Pacifica area's still have more to discover.

It's certainly possible - but highly unlikely. The baby geckos are independent from the moment they hatch - and quickly disperse in search of food. The chances of them meeting again are almost zero !

Assuming you mean gecko, its a lizard. Google them, there is the Leopard Gecko, Crested Gecko, and the Gargoyle Gecko, just to get you started

By "on its own", if you mean in the wild, yes. They live in the wild about 8-9 years. But if you mean alone in their cage with no other geckos, they can, but they are happier alone rather than with 2 or more. If you are having 2 or more in the same cage, be sure that it is not 2 males, because they will fight. only multiple femals or a male and a female are safe together. (CAUTION: If you hav a male and a femal together in the same cage, they might mate and you might end up with up to 12 new Leo hatchlings!)

Panther geckos are a very small species even as adults. With a total length of 4-6" they are very fragile. A baby of this species cannot be held with force. It will take some getting used to for the small guys to learn that you are no threat, and with time they should loose their timidness.

A 3-5 inch leopard gecko can go in a 5 gallon but a adult needs a 10-15 gallon

The Crested Geckos head is not what you might call oversized all be it large. It is not over large but it appears larger than it is due to the broadness of the skull above the eyes and the Crests along its head accentuate its size.

Geckos have a very strong sense of smell, an animal that is exposed to bleach will always smell it. Typically, most gecko species have poorer eye sight in comparison to their smell (with day geckos as an exception) An animal exposed to bleach for an extended period of time can developed breathing issues and if digested or exposed to their eyes, can result in death. If bleach is being used for cleaning purposes, try to stick to something less corrosive and natural. Water mixed with vinegar followed by a thorough rinsing can rid of hard water stains.

Depending on the geckos specie will determine the amount of light they receive each day. A specie of Phesulma (day geckos) can be seen basking in direct sunlight for up to 12 hours a day. Most nocturnal species of gecko will seek shelter during the days and are active at night. All gecko specie do require light every day, they must be on a light cycle. As hobbyist's, we are trying to replicate their natural environment and in the wild, the sun will still shine from 8-14Hours daily (depending on location)

Almost all reptiles carry salmonella. Just make sure you wash your hands after touching, and dont touch your face, nose, lips, eyes, ears, and make sure you dont have any cuts on your hands!! There is a more chance of getting salmonella by handling raw chicken than from your gecko:) Be safe!

Depending on the gecko species, some geckos are omnivores. Animals such as the Crested gecko and neighbouring Rhacodactylus species will consume a variety of fruits, pollens, saps, and nectar. Mashed or puree fruits work well. Most hobbyists will use supplements in their mix as well to ensure the animal is still receiving everything it needs.

It wouldn't be from Petland for sure. The best place to get a cheap leopard gecko would be at Petco or Petsmart where they are thirty dollars and at Petland they are forty dollars.

The cage being to damp or being to unclean. You should check their is nothing rotting and no poo's that you havn't cleaned up.

Gecko and alligator are different species. It's as impossible as a parakeet turning into an ostrich, or a kitten growing into a lion.

A geckos water bowl should consist of clean water at all times. This means the bowl must be changed and clean every day. In most cases a water bowl will evaporate if a heating lamp is present but if not, that water will turn stale, possibly grow mold and is possible to make your animal ill. The animals habitat should be cleaned monthly at a minimal.

A Gecko can only loose it's tail ,and survive.
