Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a group of diseases of the optic nerve involving loss of retinal ganglion cells in a characteristic pattern of optic neuropathy. Although raised intraocular pressure is a significant risk factor for developing glaucoma, there is no set threshold for intraocular pressure that causes glaucoma. One person may develop nerve damage at a relatively low pressure, while another person may have high eye pressures for years and yet never develop damage. Untreated glaucoma leads to permanent damage of the optic nerve and resultant visual field loss, which can progress to blindness.

It sounds like you are describing a pinguecula and it is caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. (ie-spending too much time outdoors without wearing sunglasses) We see this more commonly in the southwest region of the USA and for some reason Hispanics tend to develop them more rapidly than caucasians.
There is no form of treatment unless it progresses to a pterygium. As the pterygium grows and gets close to the center of your vision, it can be removed with a surgery. But it's always best to never let it get to this point.
I recommend looking these two things up on Google pictures and you will have motivation to wear sunglasses outside to prevent the pinguecula from converting into a pterygium.

hi, i don't know exactly what causes them, but i myself have had one on the white of my left eye. It seemed to just appear as I've never noticed it uptill a few months ago but i haven't had any trouble with it and its never gotten any bigger.

Can fluocinolone acetonide topical solution cause glaucoma?
I lost nearly 3/4 of my hair. Fluocinolone topical was the 4th topical I was prescribed. I used it for about a week before the hair loss started. By the time the doctor figured out it was the medicine the damage was already done. They switched me to a different topical steroid and the hair loss stopped. I had waist length blond wavy hair.

Glaucoma itself is not infectious but sometimes glaucoma can be caused by a complicated ocular infections like keratitis that is caused by herpes virus. Complicated herpes virus infection can cause glaucoma.

Two types of Glaucoma is "open angle" and "closed angle". Closed angle is when Glaucoma comes suddenly and painfully. Vision loss comes quickly and but the pain quickly leads those infected with it to medical help before the permanent damage is done. Open angle lets the glaucoma disease progress slowly and unpainfully. The person infected usually doesn't know they have vision loss until damage is permanent.
