So the sun's gravity exerts nearly 180 times more force on Earth than the moon's gravity does.

However if we calculate the ratio of tidal forces

27,000,000/(390^3) ≈ 27,000,000/59,300,000 ≈ 0.455.

So the moon's tidal forces on the Earth are a little more than twice those exerted by the sun.
