How old before a female pig can have babies?
Actually, the question should be: "How young must they be?". For their first litter, a pig must be older than two months and younger than six months to be impregnated.
Don't wait too long if you are going to breed them. When the female guinea pig doesn't have any offspring for about a year or two their pelvic bones fuse making it impossible for them to have babies. Ideally they would be between two and four months when they fall pregnant. But no two guinea pigs are exactly the same.
ANSWER:
The best time for guinea pigs to have babies are between 5-8 months old. It can be dangerous for them if they get pregnant before or after then. But it's always best NOT to breed them at all!! Because it can be just plain dangerous at any age!
These animals are rodents and can breed at a young age. They just need to be at least 4 months old. Breeding young is not advised. Wait until the animals are 6 months or more.
Does guinea pig prevent loneliness?
It is possible, but not very common. If a mate has died then the pig is likely to get depressed for a little while. You can tell this if they eat less, refuse to come out of their house and if they squeak less. But after a while they will turn back to normal. After my guinea pigs friend died, he took about a week and a half and then he was back to normal. If you think that the guinea pig is still very lonely, then you can always buy another pig to live in the same cage. Be careful if you are going to do this, as your old guinea pig may not accept the new one and will fight. To ensure that they get on well, introduce them slowly. Perhaps allow them to spend a few minutes together at first and then gradually increase this each day.

Are guinea pigs potty trained?
It depends on how often you clean out their cages if you clean them out often then there should be no problem. Also make sure that you get a cage with a closed bottom and sloted bars not like a closed in box because the smell has no where to go and it just stays in the box and it smells extra bad.
Yes they do there ears should be checked and cleaned thourally and what alot of people think is that guinea pigs are rodents but they are not they are in the domestic group of aniaml and they require a yearly vet check up just like dogs or cats usaully costing about 100 to 175$ or a full check up . Hope this helped :)
Can a guinea pig catch a disease?
,
Yes they can, and it is a very painful condition to them. They shed flakes of skin and scratch like crazy, and it usually takes a while before you can notice that it is serious.
The itching is caused by mites that are microscopic and under their skin, and causes them to wheek in pain. Worst is that they can scratch so much that they start bleeding and infect their wounds as a result causing really serious conditions, so a check on how their are doing and how it is progressing is needed.
The itiching is also causing them a lot of stress.
A visit to the vet is needed asap and treatment with specific behind the neck medication applied on them (sometimes with repeats needed every 2 weeks for a month).
I can't remember the name of the medicine but it is a worldwide scabies pet medicine so your vet will know.
Guineas usually shed a lot of hair as a result of the scratching and end up with big bald patches in which, after it gets better, hair will slowly grow back.
Our Piggy had that when he was a Baby soon after we got him from the pet shop, so we don't know how or where he caught it...
It got better after roughly 6 weeks.
The main thing is first to go to the vet and have them put the medicine of the piggy, because I tried lots of other stuff on him not knowing it was scabies and in the meantime it got worse...so as soon as symptoms like sneezing a lot, scratching, flakes of skin shed, and hairloss around the scratching area..go to the vet ASAP.

Can female guinea pigs live with male rabbits?
They can as long as the male or female has been neutered. This will help prevent any baby piggies that you may not have room to keep yourself. You should not breed a female pig after 6-7 months as the pelvic bones may have fused together making a natural birth impossible.

Why do guinea pigs eat newspaper?
Cockatiels eat newspaper because it gives them something to do. It keeps them occupied. Depending on the type of ink used in the printing of the newspaper, the ink may be hazardous to your pet cockatiel. I advise to keep newspaper away from your cockatiel - away enough so that your cockatiel cannot get a hold of it.

Do Samoyeds get along with guinea pigs?
All kinds of animals can get along together, even those which are natural prey-and-predators, or natural enemies; this can happen particularly where the animals have been together from an early age.
However it must be remembered that these instances, despite all the cute photographs we see, are the exception rather than the rule.
Domestic dogs and cats can co-exist happily with other pets and become quite friendly, but the need to hunt and chase, and to practice these skills, is present from the first in all predatory animals and many pet-owners have discovered that it takes only a tiny lapse of canine memory for their dog's best buddy, the family rabbit, to become a sad heap of fur and a regretted memory.
So if you keep dogs or cats as well as other animals which might be considered their prey, you'll be well advised to keep them apart. In any case, your pet guinea pig or rabbit or bird or rat, or even kitten, will need to be kept confined for its own safety, and it's best to be sure to do this at all times. If this isn't possible you might need to reconsider the wisdom of taking responsibility for keeping both a predator and its natural prey under the same roof, so to speak.
Some people like to try experimenting with introducing such animals to one another in the hope they'll become friends, but unfortunately one could go through quite a lot of guinea pigs before becoming certain it isn't going to work.
Bear in mind that no dog-owner with any sense would leave a dog alone even for a moment with a small child, no matter how well-behaved or well-trained the dog is. There are many, many tragic cases showing how dangerous this can be; it's best to keep in mind that dogs are predators and can react in ways which to us seem unpredictable, but which are perfectly normal. For a dog.
How do you make friends with your guinea pig?
Hold the new guinea pig in your hands, getting the scent on you. Pet your old pig lovingly after letting him smell your new pig's scent on your hand. Bring your old pig into a neutral territory (his cage might bring out the territorial instinct,) and sit him on the floor or somewhere safe. Holding the new pig, watch CAREFULLY as you let your old pig come over to check out the situation. If he doesn't, you can try putting them about six inches away from each other, but be ready to remove one if it gets nasty. Keep them in separate cages for a few days, cages preferably close to each other so they can see each other, and gradually lengthen their together time. When they seem to get along (playing, popcorning, eating together, sleeping together; certainly not chattering at each other!) you can leave them unsupervised for a little while. Use good judgement. When you are sure they are friendly towards each other, you can let them be together permanently. Keep the extra cage in case of sickness.
