Is it too late for 8 year old gymnast in level 3 to become an eliete?
I think so. Generally there are no competing elites past age 20, so that would give you 6 - 8 years...and you need to move up 5 levels. So it's possible, but not likely. Most elites were level 6 probably around age 8 or younger.
It's never too late for anything.I believe that everything is possible if you put your heart and mind into it!!
I think that since your only 12 and in level 6, if you work hard it's possible, it's not like your 15 or something,
No 12 is not late for starting gymnastics. I know this because I'm 14years old and I'm starting gymnastics next year (which is in less than a month) I am very happy.
PS: When you go to a gymnastics club some of them have a free trial. Which you don't have to play...
One very obvious exception to an elite gymnast being over 20 nowadays is Oksana Chousovitina from Uzbekistan/Russia/Germany. I know she was still competing in 2008/09 mainly as a specialist which would put her age at being 31-32 years of age, married with 2 children. She started appearing in major competitions at the 1991 World Championships in Indianapolis USA so putting her elite career at over 17 years.
When is it time to quit gymnastics?
Gymnastics is a sport that should always keep you happy, upbeat, and hungry for more. It is challenging, but also extremely fun. But, if you are one of those people that just isn't liking it anymore, maybe it's time to call it quits. Quitting isn't something I'm telling you is necessary, maybe your just going through a rough patch. But if you are genuinely not into anymore, maybe it's time to go. Also, some people push themselves too hard. If you love the sport sooo much, and have been doing it for a long time, that is fantastic. But when your body screams no, it means no. Yes, there are injuries you can work through, but pushing yourself through brutal injuries can mean long term damage, and injuries that won't go away. So even if you love the sport, and it's your life, you also have to know when to let it go.

How do you move up a level fast in gymnastics?
Depending on your ability, usually it'll take a few months in the earlier levels like 1, 2 and 3, and then maybe a 1/2 year in 4, and from 5-6, maybe up to a year? Then higher than that, most likey a year. But Jordyn Wieber moved up from level 8 all the way to elite in one year, so like I said, depending on your ability based on your strenght, and detication!
the backhandspring is the hardest thing to learn. onc you get your backhandspring you can get your roundoff backhandspring and back tuck real quick!
it is tricky to learn but its like riding a bike when you have it you have it and can do it with no effort
How do you overcome a fear of roundoff back handsprings?
I used to have this fear all the time and its so common in gymnasts/cheerleaders. My excuse would of coarse to not blame me and say I "forgot how to do it but of coarse I didn't forget and I just didn't want to admit I was scared even though everyone knew I was scared haha. So I had it from January till may and had a few blocks in between but none too major. Then in late May I sprained my finger doing one and I was scared I had to take a few weeks off from throwing it. I lost it and for the whole summer I did. All I could work on was a standing tuck and getting unnecessary spotting on my roundoff back handspring. Finally, in some time September my coach spotted me enough that i naturally threw it again but the whole time it was all in my head. Basically while you do your round off tell yourself to throw the back handspring. Just bend with your knees and jump back. Once you throw it keep throwing it and you now have it again! Also set your self goals or give yourself consequences for motivation. Every time I always don't throw it I make my coach make me do a lot of push ups or conditioning as a punishment hahaha. And think that when you throw it you finally get to move on to other stuff like tucks and not stuff you keep reviewing that you already have. Just trust your coaches and when they say your ready you are ready! Just throw it and think that once you do you will have it and you can move on to other stuff and you can use the round off handspring in your routine! :D
What are routines in gymnastics?
A routine in gymnastics is a series of gymnastics skills in addition to graceful dance moves that are composed to make one "routine". For example, for a floor routine, you may have some graceful arm movements, then a handstand roll, some more dance skills then a round-off back hand spring, then some more dance movements, then a handstand bridge kick over, then a series of leaps, etc. all to the beat of the song the gymnast is performing to. The same things works for the balance beam. With a routine on the bars, the gymnast may do a kip to mount the bar, followed by a front hip circle, then a cast shoot through, then a stride circle, then a back hip circle then for the dismount, an undershoot. That would be the "bar routine". There are not "routines" for vault; there is only one skill that is performed and judged.

How and when did Gymnastics start?
Gymnastics began in ancient Greece. The ancient Greeks considered physical fitness to be a very important part of their life and they built gymnasia and courtyards in every city of ancient Greece for the purpose of jumping, running and wrestling.
Meanwhile, the Roman Empire began to ascend and Greek gymnastics began to give way to military training. The wooden horse which is used in modern-day gymnastics was introduced by the ancient Romans. In the year 393 A.D., the Olympic Games were abolished by Emperor Theodosius and gymnastics was, therefore, abolished.
Gymnastics was revived in the period between the latter half of the eighteenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century. The credit for the revival of gymnastics goes to two physical instructors, namely Johann Friedrich GutsMuth, who was born in the year 1759 and died at the age of 80 in the year 1839, and Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, who was born in the year 1778 and died at the age of 74 in the year 1852.
