It is available in every mine, and its appearance is totally random. Getting rare ore is incredibly... rare. You just have to invest time to get enough of it. There is also the problem that there is only about a 10% chance that the rare ore becomes rare metal. Save a lot when refining and reload if you don't get what you want.
What does orichalic do in harvest moon?
It has no use in the game. It says that it is "not used today," but what they mean is "not used at all." It also has a low sell price, so... I dunno why it's even in the game in the first place.

Toadstool: The mine is the best place! Also, when you go mining and looking for it you up grade on the hammer .... which is good for the game, and for you! Or if you have already unlocked it Mont. Gelato is really easy to find it!
Woodfish: So you have to unlock Mont. Gelato, (Collin's), and then feed this bear on the mont. everyday, twice a day for about a week or so (fish or hunny!)(but fish is easier PLUS you also gain more for your fishing rod when you do soo!). When you unlock this place ... be sure to bring a hammer and a axe... cause there are some tree's and rock's in the way on you way up to the mont.\bear!(there is also a mine up their to!) To feed the bear you, get the fish (rucksack, hold it and walk right up to the bear .... then it will do the rest on it's own! And once you get past the bear, you go up and it's kinda hard to look for the fish .... but your best bet is to stay on the shadowy parts and keep on a look out... and also try it at night! Better luck!
Green Bell: Ok, this is a flower! So you buy the seeds from Souffle farm, and grow it in the winter! ... or i THINK you might be able to buy it from there! Just click the Women standing at the desk ... go to flower's or product and you might be able to find it there!
Ostonnaise: I got this at a flea market .... pretty cheap! Better then spending a lot of money on an Ostrich (10000$) and then waiting for it to grow , then getting the PERFECT egg from it! So, you get it from Maya at the market!
Carrotcake: Also at a flea market... and also Maya is selling it! Or if you like cooking here is what you do... : Oven - Breadfruit (grow it), egg (buy from Brownie ranch or make your own if you have Ducks!), ,milk (same thing but with a Cow), butter(Samething, or milk a Cow then put it in a Maker - buy from general store), and a carrot(again , grow, or buy!).

Saury: Ok, so what you do is you go fishing... of coarse... go to the dock by the store named The Hook! Where the boat is .... go to the end of the dock ,then go a little right but stay forward try to fish once, you'll catch a puffer fish probably then after that, you will probably catch a saury!
Blue wonderful: At the beginning you find this gift on the beach.... then you find another one by Dr. Jin's house! On the corner! Well keep doing that and it will give you a blue wonderful, through out the gifts! OR go mining deep deep and you will probably find one, then get it refined at the store named Ramsey the Blacksmith's (by Mira... if you havnt met her yet, go to the church then go to the side of it there will be a grave yard.. go into there and you'll meet her!) and its good because you'll level up faster!
Perfect Spinach: You can grow this (by buying the seeds from Souffle farm and ect.!), or buy it from Souffle farm when it's growing season!
Banana: Found on Toucan Island! You will get there when the boat starts to work again!
Red Wool Yarn: Get a sheep (Brownie ranch!) (if not in the store buying section yet ... you still have to put at least 5000 $ worth of animal product in the shipping bin!), then get a red flower (either buy it! or buy the seeds from Souffle Farm then grow it!) ... and buy a dieing pot! and VOILA!

Grilled Yam: Buy the seeds at Souffle Farm , grow them, (it has to be good or up EX:PERFECT, SHINNING , ect.!) then make a Bonfire at the beach and put the Yam into the fire.
Carp: Is found by that pond in Maple Lake... go fishing there and you will find one soon! But be sure to try different spots!
Good herb fish: Is cooked in the Oven, with a Good fish (expensive... so like a shark, or a squid, ect.!) with any type of herb!
then VOILA!

Then cook it over a Bonfire down at the beach!
Char: Found fishing on the beach! or the Waterfall! By Caramel District!
Green Herb: A really good spot to find them is the forest right by the store called Dale's Carpentry ... were Luke and Bo are chopping down trees most of the time!
Plain Omelet: Can buy at the Flea market or Make it in the Frying Pan : you need an Egg and Butter.
Good Tomato: Either buy it at Souffle Farm just as it's self, or buy the seeds and grow them (you get more money that way).

In the top corner of the town there is an area with a waterfall. In that place there is an entrance to a cave like room. That is the Dig-Site.
Enter the Dig-Site early in morning or late in the evening when no one is inside. Make sure you have your Hammer with you and should activate a scene where the first mine is opened. There are four mines in all and each entrance is in the Dig-Site.

How do you get your bird shed upgraded on Harvest Moon DS?
You hire Gotz to build one for you. You can provide the materials or purchase them from Gotz as well. It's harder but more affordable to provide materials yourself. Fodder is the worst to use because it can just randomly collapse, Lumber is pretty good but can fall down in storms and blizzards, and Stone is best, sice it's unbreakable under any condition. NEVER use Gold Lumber though, because it is just as good as Stone and is just a huge waste of money.
