Personally, I got the Chicken Coop first. Because you can have multiple chickens that lay eggs every day, it's cheaper then buying ranch animals and a barn, and basically you get profit every day.

On Winter 2nd every year Thomas will come by your house in the morning and ask if you can bring him a certain item by that evening. If you do not have that item and cannot get it by the end of the day there is nothing you can do.

However if you save the on Winter 1st you can reload your file, go back to sleep, and when Thomas comes by again he'll ask for a different item. Repeat that process until he asks for an item you can get.

Well there are too many to name, but one thing I can say is if you go to Charlie and give him Orchiad ( I think it's called that ) from the mine 50 floors and up, he will make one for you. For example, there are Goddess Earrings, and Witch Earrings and so on. Kinda like in the older game HMDS.

You can do heaps of different things on AC:WW. You can go fishing, catch bugs, plant flowers and trees, water flowers, cut down trees, shake trees, dig up fossils, decorate your house, pay off your mortgage, slingshot balloons and spaceships out of the sky, shop for clothes and furniture, send mail to your neighbors, send presents to your neighbors, help your neighbors with deliveries or letters, sell your items to get bells and heaps more!

Every single town's person has a recipe that they will give you once they consider you to be a friend, just be sure to write it down as they will only tell you once. The Cooking Channel will also air a new recipe every Tuesday. A few other shows will also have a recipe on them once in a while. You can dig up a recipe for ketchup in the winter mine.
