No, you can not use that HD receiver because in order to start services on that HD receiver cable provider needs the Serial Number of that receiver and cable providers only activate services to their own properties they only can rent you their own receiver but can not activate the services on a box which is not their own

I had the same problem with a brand new 52 in sharp aquos right out of box. Sharp sent repair out to fix. Apparently, it is a problem with many of their LCD flat tvs.

First off, RCA can do two different types of video signal: composite (the standard definition yellow RCA) and component (the high definition 3 x RCA colored red, green, and blue). Both of these are totally foreign to VGA and needs an active converter (as opposed to just a simple VGA to RCA cable of which there are many - These will work only if the VGA port outputs a signal compatible with component, or if a component port accepts VGA signals which is less than 1% of the VGA to RCA cases).

There is a converter for VGA to RCA (composite) that will cost around $30, and a converter for VGA to RCA (component) that will cost anywhere between $50 and $200 (depending on if you want scaling, which will smartly change the resolution to fit your TV's settings).

Fact ist that Pixel Precise is the small brother of Perfect Pixel, while Precise has less processing power than Perfect. I tried to see if Perfect is "better" than Precise: to me it is invisible.... both are stunning !!

PAL is the color encoding method used in Europe and other parts of the world. North America, Japan and other countries use NTSC. Although the two encoding methods are similar, the signals are not compatible. A third color standard used by France is SECAM. SECAM is used in a handful of other countries but is not a common standard. PAL and SECAM encoded signals are normally used at 50Hz while NTSC normally uses 59.94Hz. There are some rare exceptions to these field rates but it is normally safe to assume that 50Hz material will be PAL encoded and 59.94Hz will be NTSC encoded.

You will need a decoder, is the easiest answer; NTSC is mainly in the US / Canada, while PAL is in Europe and many other countries. Both are analog systems.

HD DVD is a high definition disc format that was competing with Blu-ray discs when they were first introduced. HD DVD lost the battle of the formats and is now obselete.

The only players that will play an HD DVD are dedicated HD DVD players and they are rare players these days. Standard DVD players and Blu-ray players are both incompatible. It's almost certainly easier to buy Blu-ray discs than to find the right player but they may be available on auction sites or trading sites.

Two reasons that I can think of off hand. The first is that they're built so poorly that they are breaking down while in the initial warranty period and are returned as defective, in which case, they're returned to the manufacturer and repaired to be resold as `refurbished' sets, or people just don't like 'em after they get 'em and take 'em back, which means that they go through the same process and are once again, re-sold. The other contributing reason may also be that the stores that sell them (as well as the TV manufacturer) don't have some type of in-home service or repair facility set-up.

technically no, but you can buy an upscaling device ~$70 that will translate the signals into hdmi. It doesn't offer any better picture, but will make your inputs a little cleaner if that's what you're going for. You can buy a component cable fro $4 from monoprice and that will improve your picture. It's HD video, but still stereo audio.
