Yes you can. Ibuprophen, being an NSAID, is great for imflamation pain. Lortab, of course is a narcotic mix of Hydrocodone and "Tylenol". I recomend taking 400mg to 800mg of Ibuprophen ALTERNATING with the Lortab. In other words take the Lortab every six hours and in between doses of the Lortab take the Ibuprophen. This will keep stomach irritation down. The other possibility is to ask your Doctor to prescribe Vicoprophen, which is a pill that has Hydocodone and Ibuprophen (instead of Tylenol) in it. It has 200mg of Ibuprophen so it may require you to take another advil or two with it to boost the ibuprophen level.

From my own experience there must be a difference in the coating. I can easily stomach 4 over the counter ibuprofin 3times daily (and have for 20 yrs.) which = the same as 1 800mg. prescription tablet 3times daily. I can not stomach the prescription at all. Taking 2 400mg. prescription ibuprofin also went down fine. but the prescription can cost much more than the walmart version-$8 or less for 500 tablets.

This is really a question for your doctor. What is safe for one individual may not be for another. Usually antibiotics and painkillers in appropriate doses are fine. Still, only your doctor knows your personal medical history, and should be the one who gives you the appropriate advise. Although most people will give sincere advise, they can be sincerely wrong. Do not take chances when it comes to your personal health.

Ibuprofen is an NSAID so yes, it does come in generic form. Advil and Motrin are both name brand medicine that use Ibuprofen as their active ingredient, but you can get generic ibuprofen as well.

Although I am not a doctor and I believe you should ask your doctor in your individual case, according to my Epocrates http://www.epocrates.com/ iPhone app those drugs are contraindicated. Apparently something in the way the interact 'may' cause a seizure in those with a family or personal history of seizures. I am on Cipro right now myself for bladder issue but also suffering from leg cramps and sciatica so I kept plugging in pain relievers till I found one that doesn't have any major contraindications and found Tylenol a fit for me. Depending on where your pain is you can also use topical creams like IcyHot, Tiger Balm etc. Again though check with your doctor as well because I don't have any clue of your allergies or previous medical history or other medications. Again I am not a doctor just someone with physical pain in an 'allied' field - so please check with your doctor before doing anything!!! Good Luck!!!

Like all NSAIDs, ibuprofen has been observed to affect us in three major ways: analgesic (pain releiver), anti-inflammatory (reduces swelling), and anti-pyretic (reduces fevers).

Your glands (aka Lymph Nodes) are an integral part of your immune system, and they swell as a response to attack. Ibuprofen may potentially reduce the swelling in the glands, but swollen glands are usually an indication that your immune system is pretty pissed off about something, so NSAIDs may be somewhat ineffective when compared to antibiotics (if bacterial infection is the cause) or other stronger anti-inflammatory medications that your doctor can tell you all about.

Swollen glands typically mean you are sick with something, and therefore require some level of attention. Kilimanjaro (almost 20,000 ft) and has been prescribed diamox to prevent or reduce altitude sickness. Anyway, it reports no interaction. Perhaps you should also ask a pharmacist.
