Is it important to feel the IUD in your body?

At that point, an IUD's third method of birth control is to thin the lining of the uterus so that the fertilized egg cannot implant. This is, to many, considered a very early abortion. It is not known how often this happens while using an IUD or the pill, but it does happen. To me it seems that anytime you have a fertilized egg and something happens to it, then it is a form of abortion. To me it seems that making it "impossible for the fertilized egg to implant itself" and making it "disintegrate" are basically the same thing but I'm no doctor.
Can stopping Mirena cause heavy bleeding?
Yes after having had mine removed on Thursday last week I have had the heaviest period I have ever had, continual clotting and pain. It is now a week later and doesn't appear to be stopping. Hopefully it will stop soon!!

Does paragard stop your period?
At first, the Paragard IUD actually makes your period worse. This is because the copper, which acts as a spermicide, causes inflammation in your uterus. This also serves as a contraceptive, because the inflammation makes it more difficult for spern to reach the egg. However, after several months (five for me), your periods will indeed begin to lighten. My Paragard was inserted in September 2011, and now in February 2012, they are beginning to lessen, and according to my gynecologist, they may eventually stop completely. If and when this occurs, it is important to have regular checkups with your gynecologist to ensure that the IUD has not migrated, and you must also check your string length regularly.
