Well the 5.2L is a great engine and sense it's release in late 04 I've experienced little issues with starting problems. When i have they were related to internal supply pump damage, rear timing gear damage, out of fuel, in 08 I've had issues with the oil pressure sensor (ecu reference on passenger side engine block) wiring was not heat shielded correctly from exhaust manifold heat and would melt the wiring causing a short to power on the 5 volt reference which is also tied into the 5 volt reference of the Fuel pressure sensor causing the ecu to think common rail fuel pressure was 0psi and a no start situation, and if 3 or 4 (and sometimes 2) fuel injectors are not firing the engine will not start. As for cold starting aids like the glow plugs or glow plug controller not working is absolutely zero failures of those components my 10 years working on them. So that's basically what causes a no start on that model i'd start at these points. Hope this helps. Good luck.

The quick answer (cited in the owner's manual) is that there is, or should be, a label on the cab (mine is driver's side rear of door opening) which has the dry weight and max GVW listed in both pounds and kilograms.

However, in some cases the weights given are for an unmodified cab/chassis, and installing a body will change things (usually resulting in lower effective rear load capacity). My understanding is that a good body manufacturer or installer will provide a replacement label with the 'true' weights -- this seems to have been done to my '99 NPR, but unfortunately some of the data on the replacement label have not held up well under wear...

try checking the lifter(s)

If you have the 215hp model 6HK it holds 23-24qts. This is the most common hp rating of the FTR so chances are its what you have. Now the above is not incorrect but for the 2008 they hold alot more oil due to the DPF system.

So 6HK base engine up to 2004 holds 13-14qt

6HK model yr 2005-2009 (Last model in u.s.) holds around 22-24qt.
