J C Higgins Firearms

Both Crosman and Daisy made air rifles for Sears under the JC Higgins name. My catalog list the model 126.2831 as a Crosman model 180. I believe your model 126.2830 is also a Crosman model 180. The 180 has almost no forearm, a long barrel. It's a single shot .22 Caliber bolt action and is driven by a C02 cylinder. It was made between 1956-59 and again from 1960-66 with some slight changes.

If you want an estimate of value please give a current description of the condition it's in. Is it in Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, or Excellent condition.

583 77 Sears house brand Made by Sears /High standard 1954 . These are scarce and very nice little 22 pump action rifles .Known as the JC Higgins model 33 .Depending on condition They are worth between 100 to 250 depending on condition .They are very collectable and accurate shooters.

Sears House brand Made by Sears/High Standard 1952 .Known as the JC Higgins Model 10 bolt action repeating shotgun .They are one of the best bolt action shotguns made very good guns . Though old fashioned they are still very good hunters . They are also very well made better than a lot of the new stuff . It was one of Sears best selling models in the 50s. I see a lot of them especially 16 gauge .Depending on condition they are worth about 75 to 125 dollars depending on condition .

There is a pin that has to be driven out. It passes thru the front section of bolt and is off-center

Talk to the company that made the gun. See if they have replacement parts on hand.

I suggest you take the gun to a gun shop to have it identified. JC Higgins is just a brand name used by Sears. The guns and rifles were made by Mossberg, Savage, Remington and other gun companies. They put the JC Higgins name on the guns for Sears to sell. A good Gun shop will recognize who made the gun.

I paid $275 for one recently at a gun show. It is in good working order, but is very worn.

It depends on the model number. On the side, it should have something like 583.56. If it's 583.xx, then it's most likely a Hi Standard. If it's 101.xx, then it was made by Savage Arms. This site is useful for looking up the model number:

No matter who made it, it's a well made utility gun. I got mine when my Grandmother passed on. It had sat in her attic for over 20 years, oiled and in an English soft showgun cover. I took it home, cleaned it up, and it's fired perfectly ever since. Another 15 years later and I'm teaching my kids how to shoot, although this gun is too big for them. But ol' Dad can still hit 'em with his Higgins!

The J C Higgins model 20 pump shotgun is one of the finest pump shitgun out their made from 1947 to 1962 two and three quarter inch 12 gauge game loads no 6 shot have always worked well for me. I prefer federal ammunition or Winchester that's your choice

The model 20 is actually a very good old gun. They were made only for J C Higgins.Sears owned the patten and the Manufacturer High Standard . as I said these are very good guns and on par with any pump in their day better than a lot of them . They are in the same price rang as a Remington or Stevens about 200 bucks or more depending on condition and series .

If you are asking about the 22 cal Air Rifle it was made by Crosman (Model 140) Four different versions were made 1954, 1955-57, 1956-62, 1961-68.
