- 101 24 was made for sears by Stevens arm it is a model 120 parts are available from numrich arms gunparts corp West Hurley NY.

First, I did NOT provide the information above, which is blatantly INCORRECT. Stevens did make the 101.23, but there was never a 'Stevens Model 120' so where that information came from who knows. Please, people, if you are going to change somebody's answer make sure your information is CORRECT.

Numrich (www.e-gunparts.com) does have quite a few Stevens parts, but the Higgins 101.23 does not appear on their cross-reference list so good luck getting the right parts for your rifle from them.

The gun was made by High Standard for Sears from the late 1950's into the 1960's. In excellent condition in its original box, it might bring $200-$250.
There really was a John Higgins, but the 'C' was added by a Sears marketing executive. He had nothing to do with sporting goods, but was head of the Sears Roebuck accounting department for many years. His name was used on sporting goods sold by Sears from 1908 to 1961, but he was not paid a royalty for its use. Probably because with the middle initial added, it wasn't his legal name.

I have a 9 shot 22 caliber jc Higgins ranger revolver serial number 583992. Any info you receive on this gun would be of great interest to me. I think they were sold at Sears around 1968-69.
Those are not serial numbers but rather Sears reference numbers that tell the vendor 583.(High Standard) and the specific model and variation.
