What size wiper blades do you use on a 1989 jeep yj?
The 1989 Jeep YJ wiper blade sizes are 11" wiper blades on both sides front and a 16" rear wiper. See sources and related links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only - be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.
How do you tighten the serpentine belt on a 1991 jeep yj?
There is an adjustment on the power steering pump to tighten the belt. About 1/2 inch deflection is correct tension. Too loose or too tight will put undo stress on the bearings & cause them to wear early. I usually soak the bolts with penetrating oil before trying to adjust since they will probably be a bit stuck. It helps avoid breakage.

What sensors can make a jeep turn off while driving?
Its guarenteed to be the Crankshaft Position Sensor, located in most vehicles at the top of the bellhousing, you do not have to remove the transmission. When the sensor goes partially, your vehicle will randomly turn off while driving, like someone flipping a switch off, when it goes out completely, your engine with crank all day long but not start... If the sensor isn't gone all the way, it will idle all day, reving the engine, etc... But as soon as you take off down the road it will just shut off. Usually costs about $40.00 - $60.00 and takes maybe 6 minutes to swap out.
This is a VERY common problem with jeeps, another side effect is whenever the sensor is on it's way out, after it shuts off while you are driving, the jeep wont start again for a few minutes, then after a few minutes it will fire right up and idle all day long if you wanted it to.
Hope this helps. That's a friggen important sensor, try unplugging it while your engine is idleing, it will turn her right off and she wont start till you plug it back in.

How do you change transmission filter on jeep?
the tranny has a pan on the bottom just like the oil pan on the engine (only much shallower). make sure you purchase a tranny gasket when you get the filter. drop the pan, the filter is right there. it hangs in there just by having some o-rings around the tube on the filter. just pull the old one out. take the new one and fill/soak it with fresh tranny fluid and lubricate the o-rings with tranny fluid and place it in the tranny. clean any gasket remnants from the tranny pan and install the new gasket. DO NOT use any type of lubricant or sealant on the new gasket! it won't make a proper sealand will blow out once the tranny builds pressure! install the pan and torque the bolts to the manufacturer specs.
or, torque like i do... BBRRRAGTAGTAGTAGT!!! that's the sound of an air ratchet if you don't know! ;)
