Although Johann Sebastian Bach's church employment was strictly with those of the Lutheran faith, he composed music for the both the Lutheran church and Catholic Church.

Here is a brief outline of which churches he worked for. These are only the churches, he also had other appointments.

1703- August 9 appointed organist at Neuekirche in Arnstadt

1707- June moved to Mühlhausen, appointed organist at Blasiuskirche

1723- April 22 appointed to post of Thomaskantor in Leipzig; provided music for

the city's four principal churches;

The "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" is probably one of Johann Sebastian Bach's most easily identifiable pieces. No self respecting 1930's horror movie would be complete without at least a few bars of it somewhere during the movie.

1. Chronologically speaking, Beethoven was in the Classical Era. He was an important figure in both musical eras. His early influences were clearly Classical, having been taught (briefly) by Mozart and more so by Haydn. However, the rich, passionate nature of his music provided influence and a transition to the Romantic Era. 2. According to well-established chronologies in Western music, Beethoven (1770-1827) was mostly in the Classical era. However, the end date of the Classical era (and beginning date of the Romantic era) of 1820 is absolutely arbitrary. Beethoven composed in a Romantic style as early as 1803, when he finished his 3rd Symphony, "Eroica", which marked the dawn of the Romantic era.

Listen to it. If you can count "one, two, three" it's triple. If that doesn't feel right, try "one, two, one two". If that works, then it's duple!

For the most part, Bach played the organ, harpsichord and clavichord, which were quite similar to the present day piano except for some new added features. When the piano was introduced in Germany in the 1730's, Bach critiqued the early instruments and found them lacking in some respects; this is said to have led to their being improved to Bach's satisfaction. He's also known to have played the new pianos at the court of Frederick the Great, at the request of the king. But to what extent he played the instrument isn't known.

Bach did have 20 children with his 2nd cousin. but everyone else says 7 or thirteen. that is not true. only 10 of his children survived to adulthood.

For much the same reasons as the rest of Johann Sebastian Bach's compositions were: to earn a living, basically, and give the rest of the world the opportunity to enjoy all of his compositions.

It's unlikely that JS Bach wrote this piece that has been attributed to him. It is unlike any of his other compositions in style and, well, quality.
