It just means you are starting out. As you learn more and get better, you will move up in rank. Even a yellow belt can be good at a few techniques.

Judo is japanese, so it remains judo in all languages.

Ippon is part of the scoring system of judo, Ippon means one whole point. One whole point in judo means you have won the match and will go on to fight the next combatant, or win the tournament.

In terms of numbers, there are approximately 50 million participants world wide. It is largely recognised to be the 2nd popular sport in the world after soccer.

To emphasise its popularity, there were 135 countries that represented judo in the 2012 London Olympics.

Furthermore 23 different countries reached the podium in the 2012 London Olympics representing the growth of judo worldwide.

Judo doesn't have purple tags, and if they were purple they would and should be stick on.

You need to be strong to learn judo. Also, you need to have the ability to fight, kick, and chop with your hand.

Check at your local gym, YMCA or martial arts training school - your best option is to be trained by a qualified coach. You can try mimicking some of the moves from videos or online training sites, but it is much better to learn from someone in person.
