The Kings of Leon didn't have any training. Nathan learned how to play the drums by playing the drums in curch as a child. Caleb taught himself how to play the guitar and also began singing in church as a child. Matthew learned how to play the guitar as a child. Jared learned how to play the bass at age fifteen when he found out that his brothers and cousin were starting a band, he wanted to be part of it so he sat in their garage for a month and learned how to play.

The band's frontman, Caleb Followill, discussed the song's origin in an interview. He said that it was just after a huge argument/fallout among the band members and no one was speaking to one another. As a way of making up, and because he'd been working on the melody for a little while, he started playing the chords and sang out 'You know, I could use somebody...' Thus ending the fight and bringing them together to write a song that Caleb, personally, didn't much know what to do with, but the other band members were pretty sure of its future success.

From what I've read, they're still kind of friends. Apparently the split was a long time coming, to it wasn't really hateful or anything.

Kings of Leon originated in Talihina, Oklahoma but formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 1999.

They write their own songs. Caleb Followill, the lead singer writes the majority of lyrics but his bandmates, Nathan, Matthew and Jared Followill help him with them sometimes.
