What affect did the KKK have on America as a whole?

The Klu Klux Klan implemented white supremacy in the south during the reconstruction period through the means of terrorism and political machinations.

As a result of their ignorance, brutality, and lawlessness, the KKK succeeded in raising the awareness of the disparities of segregation and denial of civil rights to a wider American public. Their actions to "protect" the rights of a very small minority (their own, regardless of their rhetoric they do not represent the ideals of the majority of white Americans) at the expense of everyone else's rights is the antithesis of the foundation of the US. If you throw out the Bill of Rights, what do you have? Not the United States of America.

That's the America that allows them the right to their opinions, meetings, costumes, publications, and demonstrations. They have the rights to all of these freedoms, but not at the expense of others' freedoms.

How did the 2nd KKK come to an end 1920s?

The KKK came to an end in the 1920s through corruption from within the Klan itself and society. The Klan's more violent activities (such as lynchings, robbings, and burnings) started to offend the conscience of Americans and membership decreased. That, along with numerous accounts of fraud, sexual scandals, accusation of crimes, and money mishandling led to the demise of the KKK.

Not in the Bolshevik sense, but they did try to work from within. a number of prominent politicians had Klan uniforms in the closet, some were quite open about it.While he never went public Alabama Governor George Wallace was probably a ranking ,Official-level Klansman. David Duke was a ( Grand Wizard) equivalent of general rank in the national organization, there may have been others - surely there were many among the democrats in the (Solid South). I am not aware of any current top-kick politicians who are openly Klansmen.

Answer

The first branch of the Ku Klux Klan was established in Pulaski, Tennessee, in May, 1866. A year later a general organization of local Klan's was established in Nashville in April, 1867.

Most of the leaders were former members of the Confederate Army and the first Grand Wizard was Nathan Forrest, an outstanding general during the American Civil War.

During the next two years they terrorised and killed black Americans, sympathetic whites and immigrants, who they blamed for the election of Radical Republicans.

Between 1868 and 1870 the Ku Klux Klan played an important role in restoring white rule in North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.

At first the main objective of white supremacy organizations such as the Ku Klux Klan was to stop black people from voting. After white governments had been established in the South the Ku Klux Klan continued to undermine the power of blacks. Successful black business's were attacked and any attempt to form black protection groups such as trade unions was quickly dealt with.

Eventually the Klan targeted anyone they disliked - Jews, Catholics etc.

Answer

The Ku Klux Klan is an American terrorist group that formed just after the Civil War (just after the slaves were emancipated). With slavery over, white Southern men had to come up with new ways to oppress black people. So they formed the Ku Klux Klan, and started lynching and terrorizing blacks, and any whites that tried to help blacks.

One hundred and fifty years later, the Klan is still going strong (although their numbers have been greatly diminished). The main tenet of the Klan is that white Christians are the superior race, and everybody else (blacks, Jews, Mexicans, Indians, homosexuals...basically everybody but them) are inferior "mud people." See the Related Link below for the Wikipedia entry. The second Related Link is to the Ku Klux Klan's website (really, you should read it. These people are so paranoid, and so full of crazy conspiracy theories...honestly, you will laugh and vomit at the same time).

The killing of Emmett till in mississippi was one of the triggers of the African American equal rights movement and can be considered one of the most grizzly brutal killings by associates of the KKK. Two men took the boy for whistling at one of their wives and they took him to an abandoned wear house and brutally beat, killed, and mutilated the boy, then wrapped him in barbed wire and threw him in a river. When the body was discovered they found that his right eye was out of its socket and hanging down to his cheek and his left eye was missing. There was a gaping hole in the side of his head from a gunshot and they cut his tongue and genitals off. The mother had an open casket funeral open to the public to show the horrors of the south.
