Of course a woman can breast feed while pregnant. As long as she is sufficiently fed so that she has the nutrients to feed herself, her nursing child and her yet to be born child then everything is good. There are a couple of ways to stop breastfeeding a baby.

One is by weaning.

You could start by limiting the amount of time that is spent in each nursing session and the number of nursing sessions allowed in a day. Use a breast pump to pump breast milk into a bottle. After time is up for nursing, offer the bottle.

Keep in mind that suckling from the breast is quite different from sucking from a bottle. You will need to be patient as your baby learns to suck from the nipple of the bottle.

After a few days, or once the baby has learned to drink from a bottle, offer the bottle before you nurse. Try to keep at it, the baby will probably fuss about this change in routine. The goal is that the baby will "fill" herself up on the breast milk from the bottle and won't really "want" any breast milk from the breast.

Hopefully, after a couple of weeks, more or less, your baby will be completely off the breast. But you want to get your baby off the breast milk completely?

Now, you can start mixing one scoop of formula per two to three ounces of pumped breast milk. Serve the bottle at room temperature, some babies need more time to adjust to "cold" milk, and you can worry about that later. Decrease the amount of breast milk in the formula mix, and increase the amount of bottled water equally as per instructions on the formula can. The goal here is to eliminate the need for breast milk completely.

It is recommended that babies remain on breast milk or formula for the first year of life. On your baby's first birthday and after, you can begin offering whole milk.

Just keep at it. Like I said, your baby will fuss at the difference in taste, routine, and source. Don't give up hope. It may seem like it now, but your baby won't remain on breast milk forever. Be patient, your baby will settle into the new routine eventually.

You can use a similar method for switching your baby from formula to whole milk, from warm whole milk to cold whole milk, and from bottle to sippy cup.

Yes, although it's not really "milk" it colostrom. I began leaking in my first trimester with my first son and in the second trimester with my second. It's a bit annoying but you get used to it. Buy breast shields so you aren't having to wash your bras all the time. Hope this helps!

I strongly disagree. Any woman of child bearing age, can induce lactation. While this process does require a good level of consistent effort, it does result in lactation without pregnancy. I have a friend who has done just this in preparation of adopting her first child. This process is best done under a doctors supervision as your doctor can prescribe medications that will help your body start the lactation process. The woman desiring to breast feed will also have to do spend a fair amount of time using a breast pump to stimulate her breasts and nipples. With this effort in a few weeks she will be rewarded with a small but growing supply of breast milk. Weather or not a woman is virgin is not the issue. Lactation without pregnancy is very possible and can be of great value to an adopted baby and building the bonding between baby and new mother.

No. This is simple logic. Breast milk production starts when the baby is born. A baby is not born until it is conceived. Conception does not happen until the parents have sex. You do not have sex until you are married. Therefore, breast milk does not happen before marriage.

Lol I recently found out even guys have sensitive boobs during puberty from my friend Zach. But the reason they're sensitive is when you go puberty, girl's AND guys breast are growing, so they may be sensitive if hit or kicked but OW that would frikin hurt :O

Yes! It is especially safe for the baby. Breast milk is the best source of nurishment for a child. If the mother is unable to nurse her child, then the second best thing is for another woman to help out and give the child her breast milk. For one woman to help out another woman in this way is an admiralble thing to do.

You can definitely get pregnant while breastfeeding! Yes breastfeeding does offer some natural protection but it is not 100% effective. You will want to take additional precautions during times that you may be fertile. Yes, you can still breast feed if you had a breast reduction 6 years prior. If your milk glands have not been damaged & they are producing milk you should not have any problems. I know this because my actual suregeon that did my reduction advised me that I would be able to.

In most of the US there are few public places where it would be illegal to breast feed. However, many businesses do not understand these legalities and have the backward idea that somehow breast feeding is something to be hidden. It is right and proper for a nursing mother to feed her child whenever the need presents itself. Just like she would give a baby a bottle, she should be just as welcomed to nurse her baby. Any judgments about modesty should be kept to oneself. The nursing mother is the only person who has the right to decide how to care for the feeding of her child.
