"We got together, you know, as just songwriters. Became friends and started writing songs. And we wanted to put up a MySpace page. So we wanted to take pictures to put on MySpace to get people's attention, and we ended up going out outside of Nashville to this little town. It's this historic town called Franklin, Tennessee, and there's tons of antebellum homes with the columns, like, from Gone With the Wind. And we ended up in front of these houses, and Charles, the other lead singer in the group, he kind of looked back through the pictures and said, "Wow, that's a really beautiful antebellum home." And I said, "What does that mean?" I didn't know what it meant. But after he explained it to me, I was like, "Oh, yeah. It is. It's really pretty." And he goes, "Isn't that a cool word?" And then we just put a bunch of words in front of it, and "Lady" is what stuck. "

The song Fifteen is about my entire Freshman year and all the things that happened that year it was really monumental for me I went to Prom for the first time I went to football games I had my first kiss when I was fifteen my best friend got her heart broken when we were fifteen all of these things that happened around me and happened to me I'm just really glad I got to put that in a song

The inspiration for the song Love Story was when I was interested in a guy that wasn't a popular choice and I got the idea, I got the idea for the song when I thought of the situation and I thought "This is difficult but it's real." you know it matters it's not simple it's not easy but it's real

"Marry me Juliet. I love you" ending is I think every girl's fantasy ending and you know the ending I hope I have some day

I just really like to write songs about boys and this is a song that I wrote about a boy who I liked but my parent's didn't and I'm really not much for fits of rebellion but this song I wrote it right after my one epic teenage tantrum that I ever through in my whole life and I remember screaming something like "But Daddy I love him." and running out and storming into my room and slamming the door and then I sat down on the floor and wrote this song so thank you for rewarding that behavior

This is a song about having to say goodbye to somebody but it never blames anybody. Sometimes that's the most difficult part. When it's nobody's fault

The way I loved you

I got this idea for a song about being in a relationship with a nice guy who is punctual and opens up the door for you and brings you flowers… but you feel nothing. The whole time you're with him, you're thinking about the guy who was complicated and messy and frustrating.

When I was a little girl I used to read fairy tales. In fairy tales you meet Prince Charming and he's everything you ever wanted. In fairy tales the bad guy is very easy to spot. The bad guy is always wearing a black cape so you always know who he is. Then you grow up and you realize that Prince Charming is not as easy to find as you thought. You realize the bad guy is not wearing a black cape and he's not easy to spot; he's really funny, and he makes you laugh, and he has perfect hair.

Cherish each day, because it's at least a day more added to your life. No matter how bad your day is, just think about this day added to your life.

Back To December is a song that addresses a first for me. In that I've never apologized to someone in a song before. Whether it be good or bad or an apology. The person I wrote this song about deserves this. This is about a person who was incredible to me - just perfect to me in a relationship - and I was really careless with him. So, this is a song full of words that I would say to him that he deserves to hear.

I've never felt the need to apologize in a song before, but in the last two years I've experienced a lot, a lot of different kinds of learning lessons And sometimes you learn a lesson too late and at that point you need to apologize because you were careless. ['Back To December'] is about a person who was incredible to me, just perfect to me in a relationship, and I was really careless with him

I think there's something so attractive about mystery. There's something so attractive about the chase. And the bad guy ... bad boys know how to keep the chase going throughout an entire relationship because you never know if you completely have them or not. That's why they're so hard to get over

I had this cute little relationship when I was in ninth grade, and I totally, completely thought I was in love. There are a lot of different kinds of love that you can have for a person, but I haven't found that knock-you-on-the-floor, you-can't-breathe-without-them, this-is-the-one-for-me kind of love yet

If guys don't want me to write bad songs about them, then they shouldn't do bad things

After I wrote the song, things sort of fell apart, as things so often do

I love, love, I love studying it and watching it I love thinking about how we treat each other and the crazy way that one person can feel one thing and another can feel totally different

Because as human beings what we can't have, is what we replay in our heads over and over again before we go to sleep

This is a song I wrote called I'd Lie. It's about this guy who happens to be sitting in the audience right now and is definitely going to recognize all those little hints in the song! I have this tendency to always be like "NO I DON'T LIKE HIM AT ALL!" When anybody asks, but after hearing this song… well I'm sure there will be no doubt of my undying affections. here we go.. I'd Lie!

I did write it about a guy who sat next to me in class and had a huge, huge crush on him and he didn't know, and so every single day he would come in and he would talk to me. About his girlfriend. So every single day I had to here "Oh my God she's so pretty she's so awesome. Oh my God we have such a fun time together. She's so blah, blah, blah. And so I was a good friend and I would just take it and lie to him and be like "I'm so happy for you." And I never told him I liked him but I did write a song with his name in it and considering this is the new single I'm guessing the secret's out. They're still together by the way isn't that awesome.

This is a song that I wrote about a guy as usual and I like this guy a whole lot but instead of telling him that I liked him like a normal human being I wrote down every single thing that I knew about him and I wrote a song called "I'd lie"

This is a song about a girl who loves a boy who loves somebody else

I love writing about boys really detailed, personal boy songs

I think that is important I used to always say "sense of humor." But I think that it's important to have the same kind of sense of humor. I have a really dry sarcastic sense of humor if somebody doesn't think that my sense of humor is funny then that's not something that is good. So sometimes you know that can be a wrong match if they're not allowed to go in public with me that's sort of an issue to. I like freckles.

This is a song about the fearlessness of falling in love. No matter how many break up songs you write, no matter how many times you get hurt, you will alwaysfall in love again

One day I'll remember looking out into oceans of peopleand thinking, this is the best moment of my life

What you say might be too much for some people. Maybe it will come out all wrong and you'll stutter and you'll walk away embarrassed, wincing as you play it all back in your head. But I think the words you stop yourself from saying are the ones that will haunt you the longest

"Mine" is about the idea of what a relationship could look like if I really found a real one. Because this guy put his arm around me and it was by the water and I literally saw the entire relationship flash forward in that moment.
