It's not to say one is better than another. Deerskin is less durable but more lightweight and breathable if that is what you're seeking. On the other hand leather is more durable and heavier.

Bonded leathers are produced from scarp/trmmings, dust particle of natural leather. Because it produced from the trimmings and dust(shaving dust, ie. leather need to shave to get proper thickness) it need some cementing substances. These cementing substances are mainly various polymers and resins as well some other property enhancing chemicals such as silicones, rubbers, softeners, and colorants.

During finishing or coating process for esthetics and appearance these are coated with pigments and other auxiliaries such as urethanes, resins, silicones. Some articles also use transfer film with adhesives.

Natural leather is from outer coverings of animals( hides/Skins), it has natural grain structure. During processing it use tanning materials (inorganic or Organic), softening agents (Natural Oils, Synthetic oils, waxes, silicone etc), colorants,

Leather is an organic material. Over time, depending on how it is finished, it will absorb moisture. Various moulds will grow on (and in) it, gradual buildup of minerals can stiffen it, and moisture can cause the fibres that hold it all together to rot. Proper care can preserve leather for a long time, though!

The best quality leather is known as Full Grain. This is the top split of the leather (also known as the hair split) but where no buffing, sanding or correcting has taken place.

The Full Grain then can be pigment coated or aniline dyed.

This will always be the softest and best quality leather, it will also be the most expensive.

Cheaper quality leather comes from the top split but has been sanded or buffed (corrected) to remove imperfections and then pigment coated or finished. This will always be a lower quality product but can be hard wearing.

Whilst it would indeed seem that upon getting wet, the water simply runs off the leather, if left in damp humid conditions the leather will go mouldy. It is not advisible to leave leather around too much water, just in case, so whilst the way it is treated means it doesn't absorb water easily, its better to be safe than sorry.

UGGs are now made in China. They used to be made in Australia. They still use the same material, they just make more in China: "Shepherd's Life hand-made luxurious Sheepskin UGG boots are made overseas using the same exclusive techniques and standards passed down through the generations."

Deckers Outdoor Corp owns the USA & EU trademarks and all their stuff is made in China. UGG can no longer be used in Australia as a trademark either. UGG is a type of boot/shoe, and can't be a name down under, but you can still buy that style that are made down under, just be careful.

No. Buy your normal size. Leather will stretch some but it stretches in width not usually in length.
