Even though Jimmy Page owned Alister Crowley's mansion aka Boleskine House at one time, I'm pretty sure Led Zeppelin didn't really make a deal with devil. Crowley was an occultist, hedonist, used drugs was bisexual and a social critic (Born October 12, 1875 Died December 1, 1947). In other words pretty much like a Rock Star. That just adds to the mysticism. Then there is Zeppelin 4 aka Runes. To top it all off there is their sexual escapades and drug and alcohol abuse. They got so famous, so fast it had to be overwhelming. They could buy anything they wanted and had women throwing themselves at their feet. I was rather disappointed many years after the songs were coming out on the radio to find out that so much of their music was actually plagiarized. They added a new spin to it but nonetheless alot of their music was old blues, revamped. It kind of took the mysticism right out of it. They are now in their 60's, and are ageing just as badly as anyone else. That and the tragedies of Bonham's death, Plant's son's death and Plant being in a bad car accident leads me to believe that if they made that alleged "deal" with the devil, they received the worst end of it. Zeppelin is still one of the greatest bands ever and there is no denying their success decades after the band broke up.

Sandy Denny, a British rock/folk singer, was a guest singer in "The Battle of Evermore". She is the only guest vocalist on any Led Zeppelin album.

Led Zeppelin was formed in 1968 after the Yardbirds disbanded. Jimmy Page had the right to the name "The Yardbirds" but all the original members... Chris Dreja, Jim McCarthy and Keith Relf were done with it all. Jimmy Page and Peter Grant searched for new musicians and came up with Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham. The first song they played together was "Train-Kept a Rollin'" and they played their first show as Led Zeppelin at the Marquee in 1968 shortly after their first blues based album "Led Zeppelin " would come out and outsell former Yardbird Jeff Beck's album Truth. The song Rock N Roll was on the Led Zeppelin 4 album, second song. however on the first album jimmy page used a fender telecaster, then he changed to a 1959 Gibson les paul standard given to him from Joe Walsh (modified with a shaved neck) and was used on the Second led zeppelin album, but on The song remains the same film, it shows jimmy page using a gibson les paul standard, however it's very hard to determine what guitar he used in the studios.

Jack Black said that they sang about vikings, having sex and vikings having sex. The Great Robert Plant's lyrics often had references to things like the vikings, fantasy type stuff (such as The Lord of the Rings) and due primarily perhaps to the fact that they always covered old blues songs, messed up relationships. A lot of the songs where they talk about stuff like that (messed up relationships) were covers but some where their own.

Great story; Keith Moon joked that they would go down like a lead zeppelin because they were so heavy, and then Peter Grant persuaded them to change it to 'led' because he thought that many people (he said Americans, but I can imagine a lot of other people would to) would pronounce it 'leed zeppelin.'

Jimmy was not married to Charlotte Martin. I met Jimmy and his assistant 4 March 1981, and spent several hours with them. Also met Scarlett when she was only 9 years old and to this day are friends with 'then' neighbors of Jimmy's. He no longer owns the home where we met so may years ago. Some other history I learned that night from Rick (his long-time assistant and driver) that I've never seen written about was that Charlotte had apparently been girlfriend to Eric Clapton prior to Jimmy.

Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones played their first live show together on September 7, 1968, in Copenhagen. For this tour they were billed as "The Yardbirds, Featuring Jimmy Page." It depends on what you mean by "First Record." There was a demo made with "Babe I'm gonna leave you" and "Dazed and confused" made even before Led Zeppelin 1 that is worth hundreds of $. However,if you are talking about Led Zeppelin 1, you can get it on Ebay for next to nothing.
