Derived from the Irish word "luchorpan" meaning "little man," Leprechauns are Irish fairies who are about two feet tall and look like little old men. They are solitary and happy creatures who live in remote places. Legend says they have pots of gold and if you catch one, they might tell you where it is in order to escape.

What does a leprechaun do if you catch it?
Catching one is simple. You must get a cage, leprechaun bait, and a tent. a 1 million candle power torch is required to stun them, but not enough to blind them ;o) Camp out one night, and have a cage set up over leprechaun bait as you would try to catch a bird. When you hear it (trust me you will) pull the cage shut before stunning it with your torch. you must then force it into a glass bottle, as its magical powers will not escape out of glass. A 45 year old cork (or more) is required to seal the top. Keep him for 3 years, and do not let him out of your sight! NEVER! From the moment you wake up to the moment you sleep. Where can you buy a leprechaun?
You cannot "buy" a leprechaun, but if you travel to Ireland you may be able to befriend one (try leaving a bottle of liquor by an upright stone). If you are able to meet one, he may be willing to do small jobs for you in exchange for more liquor- personally, i find absinthe/whiskey make leprechauns most amicable.
Also, never ask the leprechaun his name- he will leave immediately.

No...according to the legends, there are no female leprechauns.
