How much air approximately will your lungs inhale over your lifetime?
This really depends on how active you are, but for argument's sake lets say we're talking about an average male that doesn't do anything but relax. On average, an adult male has a total lung capacity of 5.7L, however there is air left at the bottom of the lungs that you can never breathe out fully (required to prevent alveoli collapse). This value is about 1.2L. Therefore, we have another 4.5L available to be filled. However, when we are breathing everyday, we only have a "tidal volume" of air that is exchanged every breath of about 500mL (not taking into account large breaths where the entire lungs are filled to 5.7L). As I said, it's hard to say what each person does, so we'll just use 500mL. Next thing to consider is that the average male will take 12 breaths/minute at rest and so the average pulmonary ventilation is 6L/minutes. Therefore over an average of around 85yrs, the average male (if he only rested) would inhale no less than 268,239,600L of air. Of course the actual figure would be far greater, because any physical activity will increase breaths/minute and the amount of air inhaled per breath.
The air that enters the lungs is richer in oxygen when it enters the lungs. when it leaves it has more carbon dioxide and less oxygen as the lungs expel carbon dioxde and some unused oxygen.
What does an abnormal connection between a bronchial tube and the pleural cavity mean?
bronchopleural
What happen to your breathing when you exercise?
When you exercise your heart gets faster and you begin to breath faster as well.
Can heart move right if left lung missing?
Yes this can happen if you have one lung left or either have two hearts, one received from girl friend. One can notice that his heart is in right side by taking an examination non seriously and the result will give hi pain in right chest side.
What is hypersensitivity lung disease?
ABPA is an allergic reaction to a species of Aspergillus called Aspergillus fumigatus. It is sometimes grouped together with other lung disorders characterized by eosinophilia. These disorders are also called hypersensitivity lung diseases.
true
What does lung capacity have to do with healthy lungs?
Lung capacity is measured by a spirometer giving you this measurement.
Total Lung Capacity = vital capacity + reserve volume = approximately 6 L.
Any less than the normal volume will cause a loss of gas exchange. It may not seem much at first but if it progresses, it can lead to the what might be called suffocation. You can not get enough oxygen in the lungs for cell metabolism and it will finally lead to death.
alveoli
What is the mode of action of nitrogen mustard in treatment of cancer?
Nitrogen mustards, such as cyclophosphamide, are alkylating agents that bind DNA and cause cross-linking that prevents replication. This inhibits cell division, most specifically in rapidly dividing cells of cancer masses.
What is the role of the lungs in blood circulation?
The lungs oxygenate the blood and remove toxic carbon dioxide.
What do capillaries pick up to bring to the lungs?
Capillaries surrounding cells pick up blood containing Water (dissolved in the plasma) and carbon dioxide (on the red blood cells) to bring it back through the veins and to the lungs. If I didn't answer your question or you want to ask more, post a message on my message board!
What cell carries oxygen or food to your lungs?
its red blood cells or corpuscles which carry oxygen to other cells of the body the oxygen is bind to a red pigment i.e. heamoglobin present in blood cells
Describe a reveal lining and explain its purpose?
a reveal is when a window reveals itself to you when you open it
