The most effective strategy on previous holiday events has been to do the mugging in NY that costs 1 XP over and over and over. The first several items typically come quickly. In this event I earned 4 unique items on day one without doing the muggings, don't know how many total items I earned. Each of the events of this type have had a limit of 32 or 33 total of 8 unique items and most often the best 1 or 2 items are only earned once at the end although this is apparently not always the case. One person told me they got 4 tanks in the tiger loot event.

Update! I have 36 items so far and most of them are of value! This has been the best loot event I've played in.

It all depends on the kind of character you chose to be at the beginning, mogul, fearless or maniac. If you chose to be a mogul, which is all about amassing money, then you don't have the option to buy property; you run rackets. Fearless and maniac have the option to buy and sell properties.
