It's not hourly, it's every 3 hours. And if your upkeep (cost of owning guns and cars) exceeds your income then it'll show as green, but with a negative value and you can't collect it.

My Mafia Wars character's money is taken out hourly (not sure why that is and others is every 3 hours) -- my character is a Fearless type. Maybe different character types take out at different times, though the amount is the same, just x3 for every 3 hours.

For Facebook users, you must first remove them as a friend on your Facebook profile, then you can go into your mafia wars profile and click on "remove non-friends from my mafia" it will however, remove ALL of your "non-friends" from your mafia, not just one or two. I used this method and my mafia size went from 749 to 528 so be sure this is something you want to do because it cannot be undone.
Not exactly, if you go to the users mafia wars profile, there is a link that says "remove from mafia". That will delete just that one person.
