How do you remove wax polish prior to painting furniture?
Before repainting any furniture or cabinets, it's a good idea to wash it first with trisodium phosphate (TSP), which is found in the paint section of the hardware store. To remove heavy wax build-up, use mineral spirits or paint thinner, rags, and lots of elbow grease. You might have to use fine steel wool, especially if the wax is in crevices. Remember, your goal is to remove the wax, not damage the wood. Any wax left on the wood will prevent the paint from sticking as it should, and you will be left with streaks.

How to rid nail polish from wood floor?
Since you want to finish it you probably don't want to gouge the wood. I would recommend trying to grab them up with needlenose pliers first, then using a pair of vice grips to hold the nail and give you something to grip with a pry bar. Remember to put something between the pry bar and the floor to prevent marring of the wood with the bar. If you can't pull them out punch them in and hide the hole with some putty. Use a belt sander with aluminum oxide paper and grind them down smoothe to the surface of the wood. They will add charachter to the final result and be flush to the wood as not to snag or poke you. just remember to sand in the direction of the grain and not against it.

Manicure and pedicure at home or at a salon..which way is more suitable?
Well, if you got to a salon then you will end up paying like $100-$150 but you end up with something that will last longer, feel good AND look waay better than what you would do yourself (no offense). But if you do it yourself you will get a half as good mani/pedi and save alot of money!
I usually just do it myself and sometimes I go to the salon!!
Hope that helps!!
Seeing as how nail salons are kind of in a bad state right now (check out the news about the danger of public foot spas), consider the new miracle product on the market---the PegEgg. Save money over the course of a lifetime. I had to get one when I started taking ballet. I was getting athlete's foot and whatnot.
AVOID cheap nail salons like the plague. 'Cause that's what you'll catch if you go in there! The lack of money inspires them to cut corners by reusing instruments (disposable instruments) without cleaning them or sanatizing the place.
Don't fret, pet. There are many resources to make you beautiful. But be careful... Good luck.
For the price of one salon pedicure, you can buy all the supplies you need to do a pedicure at home over and over again, and yes, you can get results as good as you get in the salon! Try this: http://factoidz.com/how-to-give-yourself-a-spa-pedicure-at-home/
