Mathematical Constants

Intriguing, ubiquitous, and at times mysterious, numerical constants set the allowable limits for all universal phenomena. Whether your questions involves π, Avogadro's number, Planck's constant, the atomic mass unit, or any of the other multitudes of immutable numbers used in science, this is the category where they should be asked.

Why is the place value system used?

I don't know any other system that could be used to replace it. If you aren't going to use it what would you use? If you have a suggestion let us all know.

4379 is a nice compact, easily understood notation.

there are a couple of alternatives

Alternative #1 -- 4000+300+70+9 means the same thing, but it takes more space.

Alternative #2 -- Four thousand three hundred seventy nine, using words, but that is what I say in my mind when I interpret the place value system for 4379.

What I'm trying to say is out of these 3 alternatives the numeral/place value system is nice and compact, easily understood, and easy to work with after you spend a little time to learn it which usually happens in grade (grammar) school.

Does the imaginary or real part come first when writing a complex number?

The standard written form of a complex number is to first write the real part of the number, and then write the imaginary part; e.g. x+yi or 3+7i.

What is 9 times a googol?

A googol is a 1 with 100 zeros, or 1 * 10^100 Therefore 9 times a googol is 9*1*10^100
That simplifies to 9*10^100, or a 9 with 100 zeros.

What is meant by law of constant proportion and how is this law applied in experiment empirical formula of a compound?

The law of constant proportion states that a pure chemical compound always contains exactly the same proportion of elements by mass.

This information, together with the atomic masses of the elements in the compound enable scientists to determine the formula of a compound.

What has an atomic mass of 3?

Tritium, an isotope of hydrogen, or Helium-3 (which does not have a specific name).

How do you write 27 million billion?

It is: 27,000,000,000,000,000 or 2.7*1016 in scientific notation

What is Planck constant value?

Planck's constant was originally defined as the constant of proportionality in the relationship between the energy, E, of a charged atomic oscillator in a black body, and the frequency, ν, of its associated radiation. It is now defined, equivalently, as the quantum of action in quantum physics. Its value is 6.626*10^(-34) Joules seconds.

Why is ten subtracted by zero equals ten but zero divided by ten equals zero?

10 - 0 = 10 because any number minus 0 is itself.0/10 = 0 can be rearranged to make more sense:

0 = 0*10 (multiply both sides by 10)

0 = 0 (logical conclusion)

therefore, 0/10 = 0 is true.

In fact, this also proves that 0/anything = 0.

What is apron constant?

apron constant is inverse of transmission ratio of the feed rod pinion of apron box

Potassium atomic mass?

the atomic mass of potassium is approximately 39

What is a negative number times a negative number?

equals a positive

a positive number here the chart you should follow:

- x - = + negative time a negative is always a positive

- x + = - a negative time a positive number is always negative

un numero negativo se encuentra a la izquierda del cero en la escala de los números reales .en la realidad se operan números positivos sin embargo los valores menores a cero se destacan por ser magnitudes asociadas a escalas no comunes en fenómenos naturales no tan comunes .
