if your engine is a 2.4l twin cam you need to remove the top covers. then underneath there are individual coil packs secured by 10mm spanner bolts. remove them and pull the coil out. the spark plugs are there and need a slim size plug socket....

I shall answer my own question having found out how, and no it's not a silly question! When I finally got the plug leads off, I found the plugs, barely visible deep down. Not what I am used to. After doing research I found a 10" socket wrench, especially made for the task, available on the internet.... don't bother with Halfords(UK)

A lot. We had ours go in 1996 model. All valves bent, about £1000 of work. Even though the belt had been changed at the correct intervals, the belt tensioner had seized so the belt had been flapping about until it broke.
