Can a Mormon priest perform legal wedding?
The short answer is yes.
The longer answer is that boys become Priests when they are 16 usually, so they rarely marry until they become Elders (around age 18). Most adult males in the church are Elders.
On the other hand, tens of thousands of adult males join the LDS Church a year. These are all ordained to the office of priesthood shortly after baptism. While a large number are married, many are not, and those who are not can get married whenever they chose. I have in fact had friends who held the office of priest in the Mormon Church at the time they married because they had been members of the Church such a short time.
Now if you mean the leaders of our congregations, those are Bishops... and I've never seen one that wasn't married, actually.
There aren't any groups in the church that are forbidden to marry, such as nuns or monks... Mormons believe that marriage is something that God encourages.
I think more to the point in answer to the question asked, there are no Priests as such there is no paid clergy the Bishops or branch presidents are lay people who are appointed to the position and serve for a time and then are released and someone else is appointed. No set time, depends on lots of things. and they are usually married or likely to get married during the time they are Bishops if they were not to begin with.
The Mormon church is extremely family oriented.
What is the age at which Mormons can date?
It is advised that LDS teenagers wait until age 16 to date and preferred that they go on group dates at that time. While this is strongly encouraged by the LDS Church, everyone can make their own choices.
Why was finding a place to settle hard for the Mormons?
In the early years of the LDS church, members of the church were shunned by most communities, seen as Heretics who followed a leader to claimed to have seen God the faith was often thought to be a Cult, there was a pattern of the people establishing a community and then being chased out, largely when the leadership of the church were the ones who owned or were officers in most of the companies in the community. Nauvoo was a prime example of that exact thing. However one of the worst cases was in Missouri where the people were chased repeatedly from their homes, losing everything they owned, forced to endure harsh winter at farwest and the law that was passed literally making it legal to murder a Mormon simply because they were Mormon.
What percentage of lds members are active in the faith?
It is very small...there are only about 6 million members or so in the U.S. There are about 300 million people total in the U.S. That makes for a percentage of roughly 6/300 or 2 percent of the U.S. population.
When was thomas s monson baptized?
President Thomas S. Monson said this about his own baptism at the April 2007 General Conference:
"I recall the time I approached baptism, when I was eight years of age. My mother talked with me about repentance and about the meaning of baptism; and then, on a Saturday in September of 1935, she took me on a streetcar to the Tabernacle baptistry which, until recently, was here in this [tabernacle]. At the time it was not as customary as it is now for fathers to baptize their children, since the ordinance was generally performed on a Saturday morning or afternoon, and many fathers were working at their daily professions or trades. I dressed in white and was baptized. I remember that day as though it were yesterday and the happiness I felt at having had this ordinance performed."
Mormon City is in California, near Stockton.
Unless of course you mean Salt Lake City, where the headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) is located.

What do women do in mormon church?
Women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (common called the 'Mormon Church') play a very important roll. As former leader, President Gordon B. Hinckley, said, "You women make up half the membership of the church, and are mothers to the other half! We largely owe our existence to you."
Although the church could be considered patriarchal, women are not treated as subservient to men but as equals. Since the family is considered the most sacred unit in the church, women are honored and revered in their role as mothers. Women are allowed to hold some leadership positions in the church, as well as teach Sunday School classes, speak in Sunday worship services, and perform other important roles. Some people have the misconception that Mormon women are forced to dress "Amish" or "like pioneers" in drab, old fashioned clothing, but that is not true. Mormon women do tend to dress more modestly and conservative than mainstream America, but still wear modern, fashionable clothing, including pants.

What do Mormons believe about the devil?
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) believe that the devil (also called Satan or Lucifer) is a very real being.
He is the enemy of righteousness and strives to lead us away from God.
Mormons believe that men have power over Satan. Satan cannot force a mortal man or woman to do anything, he can only deceive them and tempt them to turn from God.
Mormons believe that Lucifer was once an angel in heaven, but disobeyed God and then was cast out of heaven and became the devil. When he was cast out, some of the host of heaven chose to go with him and have become his minions.
Mormons also believe that although Satan does not have a physical body, he looks like a man. He doesn't have red skin, horns, and a tail, nor does he look like a monster or a serpent.

What were Brigham Young's political views?
His view generally was a theocratic one, meaning that all political/ legal/ moral decisions should be made by God (or in his absence, some appointee on Earth). Brigham Young did not support the American political parties of the day, and after arrival in Utah the Mormons created their own political party with his support. He generally disliked the US Government, but honored America's rich heritage. For his time, he was quite progressive when it came to women's rights, and encouraged women to gain a college education and enter the workplace. By today's standards, he was quite racist, but his opinions were common with many white men of his time. He also strongly believed in freedom of belief - he preached that we should not meddle in the affairs of others, and that others should not interfere with his. He might be compared to today's Libertarians, although more theocratic than most.

Why can't non Mormons attend a Mormon wedding in the temple?
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ("Mormons") go to temples to perform sacred, holy ordinances, such as endowment ceremonies, eternal marriages, and baptisms by proxy for the dead. The Church considers its temples to be holy places, a "House of the Lord." Due to that sacred nature, only those who have been given an ecclesiastical endorsement of worthiness may enter. These are church members who live up to certain standards and who have been given permission to participate in Temple services by their local leaders.
When a new temple is constructed, the Church will allow the public to tour the building in an "open house." Visitors can see the rooms in the temple, learn what they are for, and understand the purpose of temples for Latter-day Saints. Once the temple is dedicated, or consecrated, it is closed to the public, and only worthy Church members may enter.
Anyone may visit the temple grounds. Most temples have beautiful gardens for everyone to enjoy. Some have a visitor center, where the public may go to learn more about the temple. If you are visiting the temple because a friend or relative is being married, you may be invited to sit in a waiting room or lobby inside the temple until the ceremony is over.
Please note that a Mormon temple is different from a Mormon meetinghouse. A meetinghouse is where regular Sunday worship takes place. Mormon meetinghouses and worship services are always open to the public. Temples are open only for special services on weekdays, and are closed to the public.

How does polygamy come into being?
The practice of polygamy, at least in the Christian world, is first mentioned in the case of Abraham in the Old Testament. This is found in Genesis 16:1-11 and Genesis 25:1. The Bible also mentions several other noteable men having multiple wives, most noteably Jacob (Genesis 30), King David (2 Samuel 2:2; 2 Samuel 5:13; 2 Samuel 12:7-9), and King Solomon (1 Kings 11:3-4). Other Biblical figures who had multiple wives are Abijah (2 Chronicles 13:21) and Jehoiada (2 Chronicles 24:3).
Polygamy is also found in other cultures and religions. For example, the Muslim book of scripture, the Qur'an, mentions polygamy in Surah 4 verse 3, saying "... marry such women as seem good to you, two and three and four; but if you fear that you will not do justice (between them), then (marry) only one..."
What are the restrictions for lds?
Restrictions sounds a little harsh :) We believe we have things that we should refrain from doing because God asks us to.
Our "code of conduct" I guess you could say is called the Word of Wisdom. It was a revelation from God given in 1833, and it talks about how to keep our bodies healthy so that we can feel the Holy Spirit and keep him with us at all times.
We don't drink tea, coffee, or anything with alcohol -- really anything that contains an addictive substance like caffeine.. for some Mormons this includes energy drinks and chocolate.
We don't smoke or chew tobacco.
The Word of Wisdom however is not just a list of "don'ts." It also has verses that discuss exercise and eating fruits and vegetables and getting enough sleep.
These are things we try not to do, but are not part of the Word of Wisdom...
We don't have premarital sex.
We try not to swear.
We believe that if we do these things we will gain spiritual and physical blessings.
Doctrine and Covenants 89:18-20
"18. And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones; 19. And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures; 20. And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint."
