Why is Mount K2 harder to climb than Mount Everest?
k2 is much harder than Everest because of limited routes, steeper ascent, limited camps, harder summit push.
1, The Weather, on Everest the weather follows a set pattern dictated by the arrival of the monsoon. On K2, in northern Pakistan the monsoon barely penetrates and conditions are largely unpredictable. The sudden storms are caused in part because the peak is so much higher than the mountains around it, it juts up into the upper layers of the atmosphere and like a rock in a river can create eddies in the jet stream, with good weather on one side of the mountain, and life-threatening conditions on the other.
2, Technical Difficulty. K2 is a far harder technical climb then Everest
3, High Altitude Porters. As K2 is so remote few, if any high altitude porters are used. Leaving the climbers to do all the work.
~
The above answers are both correct. K2 is considered by many experienced mountaineers to be a more difficult climb than Everest for several reasons. The weather is a big factor, as described. Also, there are no tourist buses to the base camp of K2, so getting there itself is more difficult. It's at least a 1-week hike carrying all your provisions, from the nearest road. K2 also presents a more varied climb - rock, ice, and snow all present themselves to the climber. The average slope of K2 is also steeper - 45 degrees, as opposed to Everest's 23 degrees.
Everest is a big, huge, tall hunk of rock and snow - but, given the right conditions, even a paraplegic or a blind person can climb it by holding on to the ropes and pulling him- or herself up. This is currently not possible on K2.

Why is Mt. Everest still growing?
Mt. Everest, like every mountain, is a mass of earth and rock that is being forced upward by the configuration of land and tectonic plates on the Earth's crust. Since the earth and rock that Mt. Everest consists of is still being slowly forced upward by pressure from surrounding tectonic plates, the mountain continues to grow.
Also scientists believe that India was once an island but because of continental drift the plate pushed India against Asia which formed hills at first. Over millions of years the two plates kept colliding and pushing against each other forcing the two plates to make mountains. It keeps growing because India keeps moving toward Asia pushing the mt. Everest upwards.
Climbing a building with no ropes?
A fairly recent trend, unprotected building climbing, or 'Urban Free Solo' as it has come to be known in the climbing community, is more or less universally illegal, considered a form of trespass. The most promonant name in the field is probably the French climber, Alain Robert, who has climbed famous structures around the world, and has been arrested for it several times.
Often, the style of climbing involved in this field is not incredibly technical, but makes up for this by requiring a great deal of stamina, and of course, the confidence and courage to attempt such climbs without protection.
What to bring to pine cove camp?
It would helpful to know what grade level but here goes. I went to pine cove last year( ranch ) and am going back this year ( timbers ). There should be a packing list on the website. You should bring about 6 sets of clothes LOTS of socks bug spray. It is nice to have a care package with beef jerky in it from a parent or friend. Swim shorts. THEME NIGHTS be sure to bring something for most nights it is just not as fun if you don't And yes most people DO dress up. Also make sure to bring a nicer set of clothes for the last night. Most girls bring dresses. Most guys bring a polo or button up shirt with jeans. I made the mistake of only bringing T-shirts. Here is a simple hygiene list: deoderent shampoo body wash tooth paste tooth brush. Make sure to bring a couple towels maybe more but not to big. sandals are nice for flush and brush but closed toe shoes are required at all other times! If you have any medication be sure to take it to the nurse. Bring a couple pairs of jeans or more if you got them. A couple pairs of shorts. PILLOW AND SHEETS lol don't forget them! obviously underwear. Sorry this is such a poor and unorganized list. I hope it helps. HAPPY CAMPING PINE COVE IS A BLAST!!!!
