Where is the Gastrocnemus muscle located?
The gastrocnemius muscle is between the back of your knee and your heel.
What is the payout for rotator cuff tear?
I just had my rotator cuff repaired and was informed that the general cost of the surgery and follow up care would be in the range of 25,000.00 all in. I should qualify this by saying that I did go to one of the top centers in the country located in Los Angeles. I am not sure if this effects the cost, but I was more than willing to pay my share and wanted the best care available.
The triceps work together with the biceps. They form an antagonistic pair, which means that when one contracts the other relaxes, in order to move your bones.
When the biceps are contracting, the triceps are relaxed, and stretches back to its original position. The opposite happens when the triceps contract.
Why is cardiac muscle called cardiac muscle?
Cardiac means "of or relating to the heart". Cardiac muscle has that name because it is the specific kind of muscle found only in the heart.
It is a very special kind of muscle, very efficient and different from other muscles.
How do the muscular system and the reproductive systemm work together in the human body?
The organs work together by
Describe the 3 main types of muscle?
1) Smooth muscle - controlled by the autonomic nervous system; may either be generally inactive and then respond to neural stimulation or hormones or may be rhythmic
2) Cardiac muscle - found in the heart, acts like rhythmic smooth muscle, modulated by neural activity and hormones
3) Skeletal muscle - move us around and responsible for most of our behavior; most attached to bones at each end via tendons
How do the scrotal muscles help maintain temperature homeostasis of the testes?
This is an interesting question. Sperm do best at temperatures slightly below the temperature of the body. This is why the testes are located outside of the abdomen. The scrotal muscles tense and relax to control the distance of the testes from the body. If it is colder they will pull the testes closer to take advantage of body heat. If it gets hotter they will relax to allow the testes to get further from the warmth of the body. Hope this helps! (BTW, they also have a reflexive action that pulls the testes close to the body when something touches the inner thigh. This does nothing to maintain a constant temperature but it does help protect them from injury.)
Do you apply cold pack or heat first to sore muscles?
I am not a doctor but I have been in physical therapy for a total knee replacement. The advice given to me was: use an ice pack for swelling and a heat pad for aching muscles. I was also told how to make a home-made ice pack: In a one-gallon freezer bag mix 1 cup of alcohol with 3 cups of water. This will make an icy/slurpee-type solution that will not freeze solid but remain pliable so you can shape it as needed.
Muscles of the wrists include carpal muscles and extrinsic hand muscles.
What is the name of a hamstring?
semimembranosus and semitendinosus muscles
Hamstring (ham = fat/muscle behind knee + string = tendons) is a medical term referring to a group of tendons behind the knee.
The three muscles involved:
Semitendinosus
Semimembranosus
Biceps femoris
What function do calcium ions perform during skeletal muscle contractions?
During skeletal muscle contraction calcium ions expose myosin binding sites on to the actin. When a nerve sends a signal to a muscle to do some "action" the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction triggers calcium to be released into the cytoplasm. At rest, the cell has a low concentration of calcium. When the calcium concentration rises, calcium diffuses over to the muscle protein fibers and causes a conformational change. Calcium binds to the troponin and causes it to rotate slightly which forms a crossbridge that drags along the actin fiber and shortens it thus creating muscle fiber contraction.
What is the importance of muscular power?
So you can chase after all the big BLACK Juicy titties in the world
What is the function of tropomyosin troponin complex?
Answer choices:
A- It provides energy for contraction
B- It stimulates the thick and thin filaments to contract
C- It displaces tropomyosin to expose the binding sites on actin
D- It stops cross-bridge activity
E- It degrades ACh released by sarcoplasmic reticulum
What is the ability of muscles to be stretched?
When a muscle moves, several things have to happen at once. In the simplest form, let's say you are extending you hand in friendship and thus "stretching" your arm outward. The primary skeletal muscles in this movement would be the biceps brachii and it's companion, the triceps brachii. According to the 3rd Law of Motion, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If the biceps contracts, the triceps relaxes and vice versa. To extend your arm the triceps will be in contraction and the biceps will be relaxed or "stretched out".
When my brother-in-law's leg felt warm, it turned out he had blood clots. I"d be getting that checked out today.
Which cranial nerve innervates all muscles of mastication?
tongue, buccal and and those controlling mandible....muscles of the lower face. mastication = the process of chewing
This is caused by a buildup of lactic acid.
What type of connective tissue prevents muscles from pulling away from the bones during contraction?
Dense connective tissue - it makes up the tendons.
What causes heart muscle to contract?
Nerve impulses that originate in the central nervous system cause muscles to contract. Muscle fiber generates tension during the action of actin and myosin cross-bridge cycling. While under tension, the muscle may lengthen, shorten, or remain the same.
Is the cardiac muscle branched?
No. Smooth muscle and cardiac muscle are two different types of muscle tissue.
Smooth muscle does not have striations (or stripes) and is located in the organs.
Cardiac muscle is striated (has stripes) and fits together with gap junctions that allow for quick passage.
