How does a muscle cause movement?

Electronic signals are sent through the nuerons of the brain to the sight of desired movment. When they reach this spot the signals close an electric pathway and tell to muscle to expand or contract.

What is the function of the dartos and cremaster muscles?

It's the muscle that surrounds the testicles and spermatic cord. It twitches involuntarily when the cremasteric reflex is stimulated, or to raise the testicles closer to the body when it's cold or the man is sexually excited. It can also be twitched voluntarily in most men using Kegels, where the muscles that tighten the anus, and stop the flow of urine, are contracted. Some men can also contract it by contracting their abdominal muscles.

What steps involved in transmitting the impulse from one neuron to another and then to the muscle fiber?

Brain send the message via nerve impulses involving neurons which use the neuro-transmitter Acetylcholine

Each nerve impulse begins in the dendrites of a neuron's. the impulse move rapidly toward the neuron's cell body and then down the axon until it reaches the axon tip.a nerve impulse travels along the neuron in the form of electrical and chemical signals.

Acetylcholine- a neurotransmitter released at the neuromuscular junction triggers a muscle action potential, which leads to muscle contraction

How long is recovery from rotator cuff surgery?

It usually takes between four and six months to fully recover from rotator cuff surgery. The first couple weeks after the surgery, the arm has to remain immobilized; after this, physical therapy begins and becomes more intense over the weeks to follow. A person's overall health, whether they smoke, and if their blood sugar is controlled (if they have diabetes) can all make a large difference on how well he or she will heal from the surgery and how quickly he or she will be able to have full use of their arm again.

Usually after the first week it starts getting better, but it depends on you following doctor's advice. I had this procedure 2 years ago, for the first week it was VERY VERY rough but the next week it was better by the third week, it was back to business as usual. the first week is important, no activity at all.

I had rotator cuff surgery and was in a sling and immobilized for 1 week. Then, went to physical therapy and was told to do a few exercises letting my arm drop down to my side and just let it move in small circles...moving it with the momentum of your body. The Dr. also told me to leave it out of my sling at home..but never to try to raise it above my shoulder height, or to try and reach my hand where I could not see it. When going out in public, to wear my sling. Every week I attend physical therapy. I am at week 4 and being able to do most normal movements..except any lifting. I had arthroscopic surgery, and I am told it is very different from the way it used to be done, which I am sure it makes a difference with your recovery.

Why are your muscles sore after you work out?

Once you deplete the available energy reserves of a muscle it starts feeding on itself, burning protein instead of sugar. When you do that, the muscle starts to produce lactic acid as a product of converting protein to energy. The lactic acid is toxic and painful. The muscle will hurt until it is able to purge the lactic acid. Part of the process causes the muscle to enlarge and store more energy for NEXT time, resulting in larger and stronger muscles which can work for a longer time.
