What type of drug slows down the CNS?
Marijuana, benzodyazapines sch as valium, xanax etc etc . alcohol.
What nervous system oversee voluntary actions?
All voluntary actions are overseen by the central nervous system. The somatic nervous system is a collection of effector neurons, and part of the peripheral nervous system, that relay the commands from the CNS (central nervous system) to its respectable muscles.
What kind of nervous system activity takes place when you sense it is a cold day?
Your sensory nerves in your skin and mucous membranes notice the temperature. Reflex contraction of surface capillaries to retain heat and erector pili muscles to make the body hairs stand up may be the result of your body trying to maintain temperature. Your cerebral cortex may consider the need to get heavier clothes or find a warmer place to be.
Where the cranial nerves belong?
Cranial Nerves 1-2
Cranial Nerves 3-4 belong to the midbrain.
Cranial Nerves 5-8 belong to the pons.
Cranial Nerves 9-12 belong to the hindbrain.
Can someone who has had Guillain Barre receive a flu shot?
It may be that your physician will advise against taking a flu vaccine if you have had Guillain-Barre Syndrome, so always speak to them before hand. It is also important to avoid flu shots if you are allergic to chicken or egg products, since the virus is grown using eggs to provide the host cells needed to reproduce the virus. Some people who are allergic to latex also have problems, so mention this to your doctor before getting the flu shot, too.
People with other uncontrolled nervous system disease such as epilepsy, Parkinson's, or Alzheimer's may also be advised against taking the flu vaccine. Ask your doctor if you should take one if you have an allergy to any other drugs, have hemophilia or other bleeding disorder, or are taking blood thinners such as Coumadin. Always check first before taking any medications, including flu shots, if you are immuno-compromised from cancer therapy, HIV/AIDS, a bone marrow transplant, other disease or disorder, or taking immuno-suppressing drugs.
The side effects from the 1976 Swine Flu vaccination that resulted in some getting the Guillain Barre Syndrome is believed to have been related to either contaminants in the vaccine's medium or the method of the vaccine manufacturing process back so long ago.
The regular flu vaccines have been made an entirely different way for decades and have a very good safety record. It is this same method of creating vaccines and the same ingredients for the medium that are being used to create the new A-H1N1/09 Swine Flu vaccine currently under development. So very few problems are expected with it, but you should check if any of the above mentioned circumstances apply to you.
Are dermatomes skin segments that relate to sensory innervation regions of the spinal nerves?
Yes. A dermatome is a segment, or area, of the skin that has on innervation into a spinal nerve root. What is fascinating about this is that the nerve root does not only serve the skin in that area, but also the muscle, bone, and organs associated with that specific dermatome nerve root.
Why are spinal nerves mixed nerves?
Spinal nerves are said to be mixes because their posterior roots contain sensory axons and their anterior roots contain motor axons.
What is autonomic hyperreflexia?
.groups of autonomic nerves operate in balance. Spinal cord injury can disrupt this balance, a condition called autonomic dysreflexia or autonomic hyperreflexia.
Neurons
What does the medulla oblongata control in your body?
What types of nervous cells are in the spinal nodes?
The perikaryon (cell body) is the neuron central part, to other neurons or directly to muscles or glands. These sheaths are composed of cell membranes from Schwann cells.
What are the three parts of the nervous system?
the three main parts of the nervous system is the brain, the spinal cord, and the nervous.
some people on this site don't know anything and type in weird stuff and i am in grade 5
What are Neurotransmitter reuptake?
Reuptake, or re-uptake, is the reabsorption of a neurotransmitter by a neurotransmitter transporter of a pre-synaptic neuron after it has performed its function of transmitting a neural impulse.
Reuptake is necessary for normal synaptic physiology because it allows for the recycling of neurotransmitters and regulates the level of neurotransmitter present in the synapse and controls how long a signal resulting from neurotransmitter release lasts. Because neurotransmitters are too large and hydrophilic to diffuse through the membrane, specific transport proteins are necessary for the reabsorption of neurotransmitters. Much research, both biochemical and structural, has been performed to obtain clues about the mechanism of reuptake.
Does the parasympathetic or sympathetic inhibit the production of saliva?
The sympathetic inhibits the production of saliva.
How are the sodium ions moved out of the neuron?
by "sodium pump", a process involving active transport
How do you get erections on women being a gay?
Ummm...your gay, that means you don't get erections with women. The only way a gay guy can get an erection with a woman is by fantasizing about male same-sex intercourse, but even then, it's not like they would enjoy f*cking a women even with an full erection. I truly feel sorry for any gay person who feels as though they need to live a lie to make those around them happy.
What is the best medicine for bruised facial nerves pain?
My facial nerve located on the lower jaw is severely bruised after a very large heavy object fell off the wall and hit my lower left jaw (approx 40 object that fell very swiftly). After a full set of Xrays and verification that it was only a bruise vice a broken jaw (as it felt pretty intense) my Doctor prescribed ibuprofen 4x a day to reduce swelling and suggested a gentle rotation of icing the area. Yes I have shooting pain, can't seem to yawn without pain and chewing hard items is a challenge. Fatigue seems to be a natural response to the compartmentalization of pain your body naturally does so keep this in mind to. Suggested recover for my recover is approx 2-4 weeks for reduction in sensitivity and 4-6 for full recovery. I was advised that is I experience significant pain after 6 week, to return for a reassessment. This is not clinical advice but my personal experience for what I am going through.
What is the nerve conduction velocity test?
It measures the ability of the nerve to conduct electrical signals
sympathetic nervous system
What is the nervous system that controls the voluntary functions of the five senses?
Touch and pressure is found along the cental sulcus of the parietal lobe, taste in the frontal lobe, smell in the temporal lobe, hearing also in the temporal lobe and vision in the occipital lobe.
What part of the nervous system does the establishment and expression of emotions involve?
(i learned this while i was watching the water boy with Adam sandler in it.) it actually comes from the abdula umblingada. (im 11 i don't know how to spell it. i just know what it is.)
