What Tactics can you use in Netball?
The answer below is great but the "zone' is used often and teams have developed tactics to break the zone and re-create the flow of the game to their advantage. Pairing off evenly is good but "Man on Man' tactic is just as effective. You defend them the same way a GK would a GS; turning them away from the play of the ball and forcing them to run away towards the outside of the court; running right up to the transverse line where they will end up off side, or force a held ball. The "man on man" tactic shows endurance in your team and will also show that you are working "as a team" and not marking 2 players throughout the court. Pick up players as they move through the court and don't forget to let other team players know by communicating with them. This will force the opposition to look for players behind them and making them re-set the play and give your team more options to turn the ball over to your advantage. You can use a tactic called the zone tactic where you fill the space or a tactic called one on one which basically means that you pair off evenly throughout the court =] Tactics would be to get into space so your team mate can pass the ball to you without getting it intercepted. Also keep passing the ball down to your team mate's goal attack or the goal shoot. Also mark the opposite team members to intercept their passes. When your marking always stay with the person your marking. Its better if you have taller players to put them up defence end and the smaller players in positions like WA, GA, C because they should be harder to mark.
When would you get a free pass in netball?
A free pass is taken when the other team: steps (the player is not out of play), contacts (the player is out of play), obstructs (the player is out of play), holds the ball (the player is not out of play), throws the ball over a third (no-one is out of play) or steps offside (the player is not out of play, I think).
netball is considered a girls sport because of the no contact rule which makes it a girly woosy sport
But...
I'm a boy of fourteen and I play netball because I was finding basketball too hard, and believe me, the girls I play against are not woosy! It may be no contact, but they're faster than me and they can jump and throw better. They tease me out of my wits during the game and I get so hot and bothered!
What clothes do umpires in netball wear?
They always need to wear a plain white shirt! Plus all the basics like a whistle and a band to go around your hand to show whos centre it is! It is the regulation to wear socks and proper netball shoes! (joggers, trainers ect.)

The umpire controls the games, and the players. They have to keep focused on the game at all times to make sure that it is fair. If a mistake is made the umpire is allowed to awared the opposing team a FREE PASS or a PENALTY PASS.They are also responsible for the players safety so must check the court before they begin play. Good umpires generally develop a level of empathy for the players.

If for example there is mutual offside, or mutual conatct then the umpire will do a toss up. this consists of the two players facing each other standing 1 metre apart with their hands by their sides. the unpire will then throw up the ball between them they then have to try and catch the ball, whoever catches it first plays on the ball :)

What is a spin dodge in netball?
A feint dodge is literally when you pretend to run in one direction in order to confuse your marker then run in the opposite direction. Feint literally means make a deceptive or distracting movement. You face the direction you are trying to make your marker run it, transfer your weight from your back foot to your front foot, looking to drive out in that direction.
The moment you see the marker mirror your movements you push back off your front foot, twist your body so that you are facing the opposite direction and drive out in the other direction.
The marker is then running in the wrong direction, usually you can then signal with your outside hand that you are free to receive the ball when you have got into space.
A double - feint dodge or demi - dodge is when you pretend to drive out twice in opposite directions and then go back to your original direction to run in.
This may be if your marker has worked out what you are doing.
This can be repeated as many times as you need.
I'm a netball coach and this is how I would explain it :)
When umpiring a netball match how do you determine who takes center pass at end of each quarter?
well, first a centre pass is only taken when a goal has been scored.
eg. team a vs team b
Team A has the first centre pass then scores.
They get the next centre pass but after that it's team b's center pass
and vice versa
No, I play netball for a team called Dominos Netball Club. Netball is a GREAT sport for losing weight, you don't have to diet unless you think that you are having problems like losing breath easly and mybe you should get your fitness up and if you do think that you should go on a diet then play a posision that dose not involve to mch work so that you can rest every so often.
- here I think they use the word "diet" to mean what their dietary intake consists of. not diet in the faddy terms of yo-yo dieting and calorie counting (!!)
also the point about losing breath; work on your aerobic fitness first as this is the problem, not neccessarily your weight (!!)
As with any athletic diet, I would say protein rich diet, low in fat and high in carbs is needed.
you should be having 10-15% of your calories in protein, and 60-70% from carbs.
don't eat less than 2 hrs before a match (4 if you can) as you will feel the effect as the blood moves away from your gut that is trying to digest your dinner towards your working muscles!
It goes without saying that you should always always eat breakfast. high in fibre and wholegrains. low in sugar.
What skills does catching a netball involve?
when passing a netball you have to throw from the chest if you want a good pass
