Rules of the cenre pass in netball?

There are a few rules in netball, you must follow them or you get blown up.

  • The ball must be held no longer than 3 seconds
  • The foot you land on cannot be regrounded until you release the ball. (It may, however, be moved)
  • GS and GK are only allowed in the shooting third
  • GA and GD are allowed in both the shooting third and the center third
  • C is allowed everywhere except from the D (the goal circles)
  • WA and WD are allowed in the centre third the shooting third, but not the D
  • Shooters (GS and GA) can only shoot when inside the D
  • Strictly NO contact
  • You can't repossess the ball (ie, no dribbling, no tossing from hand to hand etc)
  • The centre pass has to be received in the centre third
  • No gloves or jewellery
  • No player can make contact with an offside area, whether in possession of the ball or not. (The ball is considered part of the body when held by a player)
  • When secondary marking (when the opponent has the ball, blocking their sight and ability to throw the ball) your closest foot must be 90cm (3 feet) away from their landed foot

They are the basic rules, but as you get more advanced there are more rules.

Who is allowed inside the 'D' on a Netball court?

When you mean 'D', I am assuming that you mean the semi-circle in your teams goal. If you are the only positions in netball allowed in the semi-circle are Goal Shooter (GA), Goal Attack (GA), Goal Keeper (GK), and Goal Defence (GD). Keep in mind that the GS and GA are only allowed in their goal semi-circle and the GK and GD are only allowed in the opposition goal semi-circle.

Hope this helped :)

Why cant you hold a ball for too long in netball?

You can't run in netball otherwise it will be too easy for people/teams to get to the other end and shoot, and if that happens there is a bigger chance of a tie at the end which allows more time for the game ( its like another game but shorter ) and a tie once again will get the advantage against 1 winner and 1 loser.

A penalty pass is different from a free pass in netball because:

A penalty pass is awarded to the opposing team because the infringement made by the other team affected two or more players (contact, obstruction)
