Are Houston Stewart Chamberlain and Neville Chamberlain related?
yes because they are related to me my last name is chamberlain so the answer is YES!!!!!! -------------------------------- Apparently not. Houston Stewart Chamberlain was the son of William Charles Chamberlain, who was the son of Sir Henry Chamberlain, 1st Baronet (1773-1829). Sir Henry was the illegitimate son of the M.P. Henry Fane, but I cannot find who his mother was or where he got the surname 'Chamberlain'. Neville Chamberlain was the son of the prominant politician Joseph Chamberlain, who was the son of London shoe manufacturer Joseph Chamberlain (1796-1894). The source of some claims that they were related may be the fact that Houston Stewart Chamberlain had an uncle named Field-Marshall Sir Neville Chamberlain (1820-1902), who earned a military reputation in India. Interestingly, Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain was a member of the Eugenics Society, a racial theory which was supported by Houston Stewart Chamberlain and which informed the Nazi party (of which he was a member before his death in 1927).
Who replaced Neville chamberlain?
he resigned... I think
__
He resigned in 1940 because he did not have enough support in cabinet and Parliament to continue. Support for his government both in government and among the population was so low, he really didn't have much of a choice but to resign.
Why did Neville Chamberlain allow Hitler to annex the Sudetenland?
They were afraid of the effects of standing up to Hitler in case of another war. Both Britain and France were horrified from WW1, and they were both still not ready to fight. So they used the policy of appeasement to give Hitler what he wanted, if it was within reason. Also, people in britain thought that the Treaty of Versailles- which is what took the Sudetenland land from Germany in the first place was too harsh, and that Germany should be treated more equally.
What did Neville Chamberlain say to the Munich pact had preserved?
Preserved seems to be the wrong word. The Munich Pact was the agreement that allowed Germany to annexed the Sudetenland, owned by Czechoslovakia. It continued the Anglo-French policy of appeasement towards Hitler's Germany, ie giving them whatever they wanted in order to prevent another war. 'Preserved' would work had the uneasy peace that was continued due to the pact not ended eleven months after it was signed.
Neville Chamberlain boasted that the munich conference meant?
When Neville Chamberlain returned from the Munich Conference in 1938, he held up the signed agreement to the crowd that greeted him at the Heston Aerodrome and boasted that it meant "Peace for our Time." The quote has become famous for its historical irony. A year later, Britain and France were at war with Germany.

Neville Chamberlain was Britain's Prime Minister until 10 May 1940 when he resigned and was replaced by Winston Churchill.
What made Neville chamberlain give in to hitlers demands?
Neville Chamberlain's decision to appease Hitler stemmed from a desire to avoid another devastating war, influenced by the trauma of World War I. He believed that granting concessions, such as allowing Germany to annex parts of Czechoslovakia, would maintain peace and stability in Europe. Additionally, there was a lack of military readiness in Britain at the time, which made confrontation seem unwise. Chamberlain's approach was also shaped by the prevailing sentiment of isolationism and a hope that diplomatic negotiations could resolve conflicts.
Why was Neville Chamberlain forced to resign?
Chamberlain was seen as a 'modern', technocratic Conservative. Churchill, a dyed-in-the-wool imperalist, was widely seen as a backward-looking relic from the days of Queen Victoria ... He had made himself very unpopular in 1935 by speaking and voting against legislation to give India some modest measure of self-government. In the very unusual circumstances of the times, it so happened that Churchill with his views of the moral qualities need for national and imperial greatness was more in keeping with the needs of the time.
Did Neville Chamberlain make a mistake in appeasing Hitler?
Neville Chamberlain's policy of appeasement to Adolf Hitler at Munich in 1938 is overwhelmingly accepted to have been one of history's worst blunders. Both Chamberlain and Josef Stalin believed they could make pacts and agreements with Hitler to prevent or at least stave off impending war. At the end Hitler's territorial ambitions soon after meant the fall of Austria, Czechoslovakia, and then Poland. In June 1941 war became full scale and the Chamberlain's failure complete with the German double-cross and invasion into the Soviet Union.
Was Neville chamberlain an allies or axis?
No one is "an allies". "An" is singular, referring to 1 thing, and the word "allies" is plural, for 2 or more things. No one is an axis; in this case that is also the title for a team of countries. The word "ally" [pronounced like the name Al + the word 'lie'] means a war friend, some member in an alliance. Was Neville Chamberlain a person of the Allies or Axis?
Germany, Italy, and later Japan were in an alliance, called the Axis, and Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union, and later the USA were in an alliance, called the Allies [Al + lies]. The Germans had fostered an "Axis" of power, "axis" like the line the Earth spins around, and a bunch of friendly countries, or "Allies", weren't okay with that. Get the word?
The reason the Allies weren't okay with the Axis is because the Axis wanted to take over the world, including the countries of the Allies (They didn't always admit it out loud). The Axis thought they could, and it seems like they were almost right. In Europe, classically, they took over Poland and France, and more of mainland Europe. Great Britain had a prime minister, Neville Chamberlain, who was known for appeasement, which means letting people have what they want. He was the leader of Great Britain, one of the Allies, and his strategy for dealing with the power-hungry countries of the Axis was letting them do what they wanted, hoping they would leave his country alone. The next leader of Great Britain, Winston Churchill, had a famously better strategy, of fighting them to the last drop of blood. History remembers Churchill better than Chamberlain, but they were both World War II leaders of Great Britain, an important Ally.

Why did Neville chamberlain appease Hitler at Munich?
One reason was that Britain was still weak after the destruction of WW1. Even if Chamberlin wanted to go to war Britain wouldn't be ready, it still needed time to re-arm. In WW1 Britain received the help from many thousands of soldiers from their empire and over sea colonies. This time however Britain had all but lost it's over sea powers and had very little support to rely on. But it wasn't only Britain's over sea colonies that wouldn't fight; France wanted peace and at all costs wanted to avoid war. Britain couldn't fight Germany alone. I think that these reasons were ones that Chamberlin would have had near the front of his mind, ones that maybe had an influence on his decision.
As usual politics had a huge part to play in the decision. Many people in Britain approved some Nazi Policies; With Hitler at the head of Germany it was becoming stronger, many people saw this as a good barrier to communism and the Russians. As well as that it was thought by many that an issue such as this would be dealt with by the League of Nations. It wasn't However. Since Chamberlin wasn't a dictator himself he couldn't order Britain to war without the majority vote. This would be an issue as many conservatives liked and supported Hitler's strong, right-wing government. These would also have been important reasons but these also show that some people approved of Hitler, so if war was declared Chamberlin wouldn't have the support of the whole country.
The horrors of the First World War were still vivid in everyone's mind including Chamberlin's. When he did return home from making his decision he said "I feel it is in my duty to strain every nerve to avoid repetition of the First World War." This shows that almost everyone wanted peace. However Hitler was able to use this to his advantage as he could take more risks, gamble more, and effectively grow stronger as everyone else was trying to keep peace. The Spanish civil war had shown how the technology and weaponry had improved and was made more deadly. The fears of a war where no one is safe, where the enemies can bomb the cities killing hundreds every night was the stuff of nightmares and was to be avoided at all costs. I think of all the reasons that these are the most important as it was these thoughts that were shared by not only Britain but by France, Italy Belgium and many other countries but it was these reasons that allowed Hitler and Germany to grow bigger and stronger.
