How long was bill belichick head coach of the New York Jets before accepting the offer to head coach the patriots?

1 day.

Bill Parcells stepped down as head coach of the Jets after the 1999 season and Belichick was named the new head coach, as his contract stated he would become head coach should Parcells retire. At the press conference the next day to officially announce Belichick as new head coach he unexpectedly offered his resignation, stating uncertainly in management because of a new owner (yet unannounced after the passing of Leon Hess) as a main factor.

Ironically (or maybe not), the Patriots fired head coach Pete Carroll the same day and shortly thereafter named Belichick as their head coach.

Is there a former NY Jets player named Nick George?

Yes, there is! Actually, he was my mom's boyfriend for a few years. He didn't play for very long, because he was injured and had to stop playing.

Nick worked with my dad, John Filerino at Federal Wine and Liquor shortly after his career ended with the Jets.

I seem to remember Nick playing college ball at the Univ. of Maryland. He plyed one year for the Jets in 69 but had a knee injury.

I remember he had a brother John who had a successful collegiate career at Iowa.

Nick also was involved in the construction business. I remember he built his own house in Clifton, NJ.
