No. 3DS game cards have a small tab on the side, so they don't fit into the Nintendo DS or the Nintendo DSi. Even without the tab, 3DS game cards will have much more data and better graphics on them than DS cards. The technology is too advanced for the Nintendo DS and DSi so the other DS systems would not be able to run them.

You should still be able to buy D.S lites at stores that sell that kind of stuff but if you want to buy one you'll have to buy it soon because they may take it off the shelves to make way for dsi's.(i live in aus)

It's on the back of the console. It's a white sticker with a bunch of random numbers and letters on it. Though in most cases it rubs off, or wears out until you can't see it any more.

Perhaps, in the future. Nintendo is coming out with apps compared to the I-Phone. In the next 5-8 months, new software will be available. A Youtube app, Video Streaming app, and Facebook app will be available soon. Microsoft Word has been considered, but Nintendo will find it difficult to sign a contract with Microsoft, because it is a full sized computer company, not for smaller devices, but that can be changed.

You don't, there is no way to do it. The new firmwares add new features, improve performance and add anti-piracy protection, so there's no need to want an older version.
