-How to Change the Thermostat on a Nissan Frontier-

Instructions: Removal of the Thermostat

1-Open the hood for access to the engine compartment. Locate the top lhose.

2-Remove the top radiator hose using a flat-head screwdriver. Loosen the hose clamp till the hose can slide off the pipe. Remove the other end of the radiator hose off the thermostat housing assembly.

3-Locate and remove the two bolts holding the thermostat housing together. Use your socket wrench to remove the top half.

4-Remove the thermostat with your fingers. The thermostat will lift out with your fingers. Remember the position of the thermostat.

Installation of the Thermostat

6-Place the new thermostat in the housing. Remember the position of the thermostat that you removed. Install the new thermostat in the same way as the old one.

7-Place the new gasket on the bottom portion of the assembly. Ensure the bolt holes on the gasket match up to the holes on the gasket.

8-Place the top of the housing assembly on the bottom portion. Tighten the assembly with your socket wrench. The bolts should be snug to ensure a seal on your gasket.

9-Install the radiator hose. Be sure to tighten the hose clamps to keep the hose tight on the pipes.

10-Refill the radiator with coolant. You may have lost some coolant in the thermostat exchange.

**Tips & Warnings

Be sure to inspect the hose and the hose clamps when removing. You should replace the hose clamps as they loosen with age. Be sure the hose itself does not have any tears or holes in it. If it does replace immediately.

How to Change fuel pump 2005 Nissan Frontier?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The fuel pump is located in the gas tank.

--Relieve Fuel Pressure

1. Pull fuel pump fuse, its under the hood in the fuse box near the firewall, if I remember right it was on the top row, 3rd blue 15 amp fuse from the left.

2. Crank the engine over a few times to remove the pressure from the line.

--Get the tank out

1. Siphon the gas out of the tank, you can pull it out with a half a tank but I wouldn't try it with more than that.

2. Disconnect the fuel fill hose (Phillips screw)

3. Disconnect the fuel line quick connector on the top of the tank

4. Disconnect the emissions hose, careful with those plastic clips!

5. Disconnect the electrical cable to the fuel pump at the top of the tank, its also a quick connect.

6. Check for any other cables before loosening the brackets

7. use 17mm socket on 2 bracket clamps in the front and one clamp in the back.

--Removing the pump

1. There is a metal pressure ring holding the pump down, using a flat head screwdriver and hammer, tap the ring in the direction to loosen

2. Remove metal ring.

3. Lift out fuel pump, save the green o-ring

4. You can get the fuel filter off the bottom if needed, just pull the plastic connector and it slides off.

-removed, cleaned and reinstalled mine last weekend.

Good Luck

How do you replace the alternator on a 1992 Plymouth Voyager?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

1) IMPORTANT - Disconnect the neg battery terminal (IMPORTANT) 2) Release the spring loaded tensioner (makes the serpetine belt tight). The control bolt that keeps it tight is right tunder the alternator (1994 Voyager). Use a long handled torque wrench. 3) Hold on the to serpentine belt (otherwiuse it'll be a mess) keep it tight-ish. Pass a stick through it and keep it tight or prop it up with a bungies or something!!! Be gentle. 4) Two bolts hold the alternator, one is obvious the other is more towards the back. Watch your knuckles be gentle but strong. Remove the nuts, gently lift it out and hold it there. 5) Disconnect the leads from the the electrical that are attached. Place the old one on the bench. 6) Watch that belt!!! 7) Get the new alternator. 8) Connect the electrical. 9) Bolt it in. 10) Place the serpetine belt in the groove, careful make sure it doesn't pop out anywhere else below. Popping out (even one groove) and driving it could destroy your belt. 11) Back to the tensioner, relase slowly, it will make itself tight again. 12) Attach the battery again. 13) Start the car. 14) IMPORTANT remember, clean those battery posts and cable leads. the dirt won't allow full contact thus minimal recharge. Trust me, been there.

The Nissan frontier would most likely have their spark plugs down deeper into separate chambers. If it is anything like new ford model trucks you have to locate the wires covering them, about an 8 in extention and a 5/8 in spark plug socket.

How difficult of a job is it to replace an intake manifold gasket on a 99' Saturn SL1?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If you have a general automotive knowledge and some metric wrenches and sockets, you should be able to do it. Might take you 1 - 1.5 hrs to remove it. Not to difficult really except that it is behind the engine and some of the lower intake mounting bolts may be tough to see.

Why would a new air conditioner expel a fish-like smell for a few minutes on a daily basis?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

== == * There is water sitting inside the AC unit that is not draining out properly. The water is from condensation pulled out of the air. Check the drain to the AC unit and clear the clog. * There could be mildew on the fins of the condenser (looks something like a car's radiator). Try spraying an anti-mildew spray (such as Lysol), directly on the fins. This should clear up the unpleasant smell.
