Notwithstanding todays modern notation of Roman numerals inasmuch that there is compelling historical evidence to suggest that the ancient Romans would have notated and subtracted the equivalent of 444 from 1999 using either of the following formats:-
IMM-IVLD = MDLV => (2000-1)-(500-56) = 1555
Remember that in arithmetic a double minus becomes a plus.
Alternatively by cancelling out like numerals:-
MDCCCCLXXXXVIIII-CCCCXXXXIIII = MDLV => 1999-444 = 1555
Todays rules governing the Roman numeral system were compiled and introduced during the Middle Ages so therefore it follows that they had little or even nothing to do with the original Roman way of calculating.
Values: M=1000, D=500, C=100, L=50, X=10, V=5 and I=1
Note: 5*I=V, 2*V=X, 5*X=L, 2*L=C, 5*C=D and 2*D=M

What is the pattern for 2 7 9 15 24?
There are infinitely many polynomials of order 5 that will give these as the first five numbers and any one of these could be "the" pattern. Short of reading the mind of the person who posed the question, there is no way of determining which of the infinitely many solutions is the "correct" one. One possible soultion, based on a polynomial of order 4 is:T(n) = (-2*n^4 + 27*n^3 - 121*n^2 + 234*n - 126)/6 for n = 1, 2, 3, ...

How you know if 21 divides evenly into another number?
You just divide it by 21 and if there is no remainder then it went in evenly.

What is the sum of the first 1600 consecutive odd numbers?
The sum of consecutive numbers (starting with 1), is the square of the number of terms you sum, in this case 1600. 1600^2 = 2,560,000
Yes. It has two lines of symmetry - horizontal and vertical. It also has rotational symmetry.
What is the sum of all the positive numbers less than 100?
Sum of all such integers less than 100 would be 416 .
What is one third in whole numbers?
There is no whole number but there is a decimal. You divide 1 by 3 and you end up with 0.3 repeating.
