Can the hole in the Ozone layer be fixed?
There is not actually a hole in the ozone layer but it is the thinning of ozone layer below a certain level. However the ozone in the ozone layer gets depleted and repaired by itself through natural phenomenon. However due to the use of CFC's by the human beings the rate of depletion has increased than the rate of repairing and thus the levels of ozone are falling down at a continues rate.
Can you show me some good slogans for protection of ozone layer?
• Earth without ozone is like a king without a throne.
"""I PERSONALLY THINK THAT THESE SLOGANS ARE THE BEST!! BECAUSE I HAVE SEARCHED TE WHOLE INTERNET BUT I AM NOT ABLE TO FIND BETTER THAN THESE ...!! BUT IF YOU ARE PLEASE IMPROVE MY ANSWER SO THAT OTHERS CAN GET NICE ANSWERS ANS PLEASE BE KIND ENOUGH NOT TO RITE ABUSES!!!
Why should people save the ozone layer?
To keep us alive. Because the sun will burn out, and we most definitely need the sun for heat, crops, etc. A way to save the ozone layer is using non-polluting biodiesel instead of regular gasoline. Also, REUSE, REDUCE, RECYCLE! Reduce= Reduce the trash you make! The world is running out of space for garbage; most landfills are closing. Burning trash is not the solution, either. It still pollutes the air, which does NOT help our situation at all. How can we throw something away, when there is no away? Reuse= Whether its water bottles, newspaper, or even toilet paper rolls, we need to reuse everything possible. Cardboard, plastic, styrofoam, paper, ANYTHING! Recycle= The biggest "R" of the three. This means: convert waste into reusable material. Use the unused macaroni for a cute collage. Use those old wood scraps for a birdhouse. ANYTHING to help our ozone layer! ---- Ozone in the upper atmsophere is the only gas in our atmosphere that absorbs UV-B. UV-B will cause cancer and mutation in us and the organisms we depend on to live. Additionally, increasing UV-B decreases crop yields and can destroy land for use. So the ozone layer is necessary for life on the land, and near the ocean's surface. The double-speak above, referring to being good stewards of the Earth, presents no methods of "rebuilding" the ozone layer. We must stop adding water vapor and CFCs to the air, and stay vigilant for new compounds that we make that end up there and adversely affect the amount of ozone present.
How will the ozone holes in Earth's atmosphere affect living things?
A hole in the ozone layer can effect not only south America or Australia but the whole world.
This is so because such holes would tend to let more sunlight than needed which would result in sun burns or skin cancer and the heat would effect the whole ecosystem in many ways which in turn would effect the whole world as ecosystems are interconnected!!
Why do vinyl 45's have a larger hole than 12 LP pressings?
Per everythingradio.com: "The 45 RPM record was developed by RCA Victor company in 1948 - immediately following the invention of "vinyl" plastic and the development of the 12" LP record by CBS engineers (also in 1948). The 45 RPM speed was the only one to be decided by a precise optimization procedure. The optimum use of a disc record of constant rotational speed occurs when the innermost recorded diameter is half of the outermost recorded diameter. " RCA marketed the new 45 format by producing and selling hundreds of thousands of 45-ONLY turntables at near cost. Of course, these new turntables with the big center spindle could not play other records with the small holes, so owners were locked into buying only the new style records. By the mid 1950's, the 45 format had become the accepted standard for selling singles, serving RCA through licensing fees (as the patent holders) for both record production and record player production by other companies. The 45 held sway until the CD revolutionized music distribution with digital sound. This was a full thirty years, from 1955 through 1985. Not even the offshoot formats of reel-to-reel tapes, 4-track tapes, 8-track tapes, and cassette tapes had any significant impact on 45 sales during this period.
Is there a northern ozone hole?
Yes. It is smaller than the southern polar ozone hole. There is a hole that forms in the ozone layer above the pole that is experiencing winter. The Southern pole get more hydrogen nucleii form the solar wind than the northern pole does, due to Earth's current magnetic field arrangement. This is why the southern polar hole is larger than the northern polar hole.
How does radiation appear in the atmosphere?
-- A gradient (change) in temperature, pressure, and humidity with altitude can bend the path of radio waves. The effect is independent of frequency. -- Ionized atmosphere, such as intermittently arises between roughly 70 to 250 miles above the surface, reflects radio waves at the lower frequencies ... below perhaps 35 MHz depending on the depth and intensity of the ionized layers. -- The presence of rain, sleet, and fog can attenuate the radio waves by absorbing some of the RF energy. The effect is greater at higher frequencies (essentially negligible below perhaps 8 GHz). -- Atmospheric gases alone exhibit non-negligible absorption of RF at high microwave frequencies, e.g. 28 GHz and above. -- High winds can have a significant effect on the transmission of E&M waves, not so much in any way that would have interested Maxwell, but rather when an antenna is blown off path due to loose or under-rated mounting hardware. Ask me about it !
What layer of the atmosphere has bad ozone?
The bad ozone is the common name for ground ozone. This ozone is a secondary pollutant.
What can I do to reduce the use of CFCs?
We can stop CFC's by using their alternatives. A ban has to be placed.
What are the benefits of good ozone?
The ozone layer protects us from harmful uv rays reaching the earth's surface and it reradiates back the 20% of the sun's heat waves.
Which chlorofluorocarbons destroy ozone moleucules in the stratosphere?
CFC's contain Chlorine and Fluorine. They react with ozone and deplete it.
What is meant by ozone depletion?
Ozone depletion is the process where ozone holes are created in the ozone layer. It is caused due to the action of chloro-floro-carbons on the ozone molecule to break it down to oxygen.
What bad things are happening to the environment and what is their effect?
Nature IS the environment.
How does ozone depletion affect organisms?
The ozone layer protects animals from cancer, mutation, loss of food, loss of natural habitat.
How can you fix the problems of the ozone layer?
solution for ozne layer?
to stop the ozone we must not burn fuel and plastics
what it does to affect the ozone layer is lets of an oxygen that burns away the ozone layer.
What happens as the amount of ozone decreases?
It depends on where the ozone is. Ozone decreased at ground level is good for us.
Why does the ozone hole happen?
The ozone hole happened when CFC's introduced. It caused due to depleting property of CFC's.
What are the environmental impacts that occur due to increased ground level ozone?
problems vary from inflammation in the lining of the lungs, chronic lung diseases, aggravates asthma, reduce lung functioning, and irritates respiratory system...
What part of the atmosphere protect the earth from utlraviolet radiation?
The stratosphere protects the Earth from most all harmful radiation. The nitrogen and oxygen absorb UV-C and more energetic radiation, and the ozone formed by some oxygen absorbing UV-C... in turn absorbs UV-B (which damages DNA).
Does burning plastic effect the ozone layer?
Yes, it does. It releases gases which can cause ozone depletion.
What is the meaning of photochemical smog?
Photochemical Smog is any chemical reaction that takes place with the presence of sunlight. The most common example is Ground-level Ozone, caused by reactions of common pollutants along with their reaction to the sunlight.
What are aerosols doing to the ozone layer?
Aerosols are harming the ozone. They contain the synthetic CFC's.
