What does the parable of the ten leapers teach us?

There is no parable of the ten leapers, however, Jesus made a leper the hero of one of His parables (called the Rich man and Lazarus) in Luke 16:19-31. This parable teaches us that salvation is not connected with wealth. There is a parable of the Ten Virgins that teaches us the necessity of watchfulness.

Another Answer:

It appears you are speaking of this:

Luke 17:11-17New King James Version (NKJV) Ten Lepers Cleansed11 Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"

14 So when He saw them, He said to them, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on hisface at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

17 So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?

In Jesus' time, lepers were anathema to the community. To go close to them would make others avoid you. They had little hope of ever living a 'normal' life. Yet, Jesus cured them. And what was the result. Only one, and this one a Samaritan - a fully disliked people who were shunned by the Jews. This one came to Jesus' feet and glorified God for His love and mercy to him.

This story teaches us the selfish ways of mankind. We need and receive and then go on our merry ways - not even stopping to give thanks to the one who gave us what we needed. This is the 'heart of stone' within each of us and will continue to define mankind until the Millennial Rule when God will give us a new heart of flesh, knowing Him fully.

It doesn't refer to any sacrament the parable is about the nation of Israel.

The parable of the Lost Son is in a group of three parables - The Lost Sheep, The Lost Coin and the Lost Son. These three parables are about God's love for people who are lost and, in the context of the parables, God's love for the 'lost' nation of Israel. The father in the parable represents God. The youngest son represents Israel and the oldest son represents the Pharisees and the scribes.

The parable was told because of the attitudes of the scribes and Pharisees. Both of these groups were self righteous and rejected Jesus. This parable along with the parables of the lost coin and the lost sheep, are rebukes to the scribes and Pharisees.

What is the meaning of the parable of a tree and its fruit at Luke 6 43-45?

Luke 6:43-45 ""For no fine tree produces rotten fruit, and no rotten tree produces fine fruit. For each tree is known by its own fruit. For example, people do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they cut grapes off a thorn bush. A good man brings good out of the good treasure of his heart, but a wicked man brings what is wicked out of his wicked treasure; for out of the heart's abundance his mouth speaks."

The tree in this illustration would be an individual or group of individuals claiming to be God's servants. The fruit would be the words, actions and displays of love that are shown by these individuals or groups of individuals. You would then be able to judge a tree by it's fruit. The individual that is producing fine fruit would be a good tree. A tree not producing any fruit or rotten fruit would be a worthless tree. Jesus made this illustration to help his followers identify false Christians from sincere Christians.

Did Leo tolstoy's book War and Peace win an award?

I thought for sure he won the Pulitzer Prize for Literature. One fascinating aspect of the Nobel Prize for Literature has to do with the people who didn't win it. Leo Tolstoy never did. He was considered for the initial prize in 1901, but the judges determined that for his anarchism and his eccentric religious views, he should be passed over. Tolstoy was again nominated in 1902, but was again rejected. Tolstoy said that he didn't mind "because it saved me from the painful necessity of dealing in some way with money--generally regarded as very necessary and useful, but which I regard as the source of every kind of evil."

What does the parable of the Birds of the Air mean?

The Bible explains itself. Read the parable here:

" . . .Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?"And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?

"And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these."But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!"

Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?'"For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things."

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matthew 6:26-34 NASB)

This illustration reminds us that worry wastes our time and energy. God KNOWS what we need, and is happy to provide it, if we continue to seek his kingdom interests first in our lives....put HIM first...and everything else will work out.
