I can't tell if this is a dumb question or if you worded it wrong. Anyway, generally they need 12 hours of sleep a day. Some of this they do during the day (like when no one is home) and at night. Make sure you parakeet is getting enough sleep at night.

I'd say your best bet is to get another Parakeet if you want it to get a different bird a cockatiel would be okay. age and sex matters and you need to get them at the same time or they fight because the old bird thinks it's his/her turf. I have two budgie birds and they look up at the ceiling sometimes as well. They are watching something moving in the air. I believe in orbs/spirits and I figure that is what they see. I don't see the orbs but animals are more sensitive to the paranormal than people. My birds act a little nervous and become very quiet when this happens. It's obvious they see orbs or spirits. How can you teach your budgie to talk?
budgies are catterers. so if you are repeatedly saying a word for them to mimic,you're doing the right thing. but if you don't hear them saying any words, it's probably beacause you're talking too fast. you see, if you talk at your regular pace, the budgie will mimic it so fast that you don't even notice it. try talking slower. so when the budgie repeats it, it will be slow enough so that you can hear it. but don't think this will happen in one day. it takes a few weeks or so for the budgie to mimic you. if you have a budgie, it's a lot easier to train a male to talk. their vioces are a lot more smoother and understandable than femals.

Depends on the bird. It puffs up when it gets too cold. Some birds it has to be at least 70 degrees, but some birds are more hardy and are happy to be outside when it is 60 degrees. Do not let it go outside but keep it in a cage. If it is very tame and has clipped wings then you can take it on your shoulder if there are no cats or other predators.

You can make your parakeets diet more complete by also giving your parakeet any of the following: cooked beans, whole wheat bread, cooked rice, pasta; fresh fruits such as apples, oranges, and pears, fresh broccoli, carrots, yams, spinach, dandelion greens, other green/orange fruits and veggies. They also enjoy an occasional piece of hard boiled egg (without the shell, of course) or tuna (packed in water), and mealy worms or pesticide-free dandelion greens.
Some things to avoid with budgies are "junk food." apple seeds, chocolate, alcohol, avocado, salt and sugar. Also avoid asparagus, aubergine or eggplant, cabbage, caffeine (tea and coffee), junk food, milk and cream, raw potato, and rhubarb (including the leaves). Wash all vegetables before giving them to your budgie as most have been around pesticides.
