What is the most poisonous snake in Pennsylvania?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Pennsylvania lists three venomous (not poisonous, since venom is injected and not ingested), the Northern Copperhead, the Timber Rattlesnake and the Eastern Massasauga which is an endangered species.

The Massasauga is the most venomous and the least likely to be observed. Observed is the operative word since snake bites are a very rare occurrence and death resulting from snakebite happen only about 15 times each year in the United States according to the Center for Disease Control. Out of every 500 people who are bitten in the US by a venomous snake 499 will survive.

The US Department of Transportation reports that 'Bambi' collisions result in 130 US motorists dying each year. If you see a snake, remain calm and allow it to make its escape. If you are bitten seek medical treatment.

What spider is black with a little yellow and lives in Pennsylvania?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I see those commonly around where I live. I can't tell you for certain without a picture but I can tell you the most common black spider with yellow on its back and legs (sometimes different patterns) is the Banana Spider. As far as I know I believe it IS poisonous. If you see one then either leave it alone, or kill it from a distance. (I'd prefer something hard like a shovel. I wouldn't even attempt a spider spray because it's likely not to work because of it's size and if it DID work you would PROBABLY be using ALOT of it. Be easier and cheaper just to pulverize it from a distance.

What is runt in Pennsylvania German?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You probably are inspired by the movie "Witness", a case where a criminal is referred to by Samuel Lapp, the little boy, as "schtumpig".

Rachel Lapp, his mother, tells John Book (HarrisonFord) "On a farm, when a pig is born small like that, it's called schtumpig, a runt"

A more generalized phrase is wicht des Wurfes.
