Pneumonia is a serious lung infection caused by either bacteria, a virus, or fungi.

It is characterized by fever, cough, shortness of breath. Sputum (thick mucous) ranging from clear to yellow to dark green may be coughed up.

Pneumonia can be mild to severe, but in all cases the patient must be seen by a qualified medical professional so that appropriate treatment can begin.

When suffering from a light pneumonia is playing the trumpet bad for your health?

Probably not if you are otherwise healthy. But if you have, or it causes, any blood in your sputum, severe coughing, pain or lightheadedness you should stop and consult your health care professional. One of the treatments for pneumonia is deep breathing to help aerate the deep recesses of your lungs and cough up mucus, so if you start out easy it may even help you clear your lungs. However, it may be that you will not be able to sustain the breathing required for playing a brass instrument and you should not push it. Obviously, if you have a fever and are still contagious, you should not be in public or around other people to spread the infection to them and you should be resting in bed. No one else should use your trumpet after you have.

What cause walking pneumonia?

  • Bacteria
  • Fungus
  • Viruses
  • Chemicals
  • Inhaled Food
  • Infections

...Walking pneumonia from mycoplasma is most common, though, in older children and adults younger than 40. People who live and work in crowded places, such as schools, homeless shelters, and prisons have a higher risk of contracting the disease. That's because walking pneumonia is contagious. It's spread when someone comes in contact with droplets from the nose and throat of someone who has it.

Could pneumonia you had three months ago be the cause of mild shortness of breath for the remainder of the day after you run long distances?

that is so odd. I had brochontis.(I know I might have not spelled that right) for about 3 months I went to the hosp 3 times, finally on the last visit they gave me a z-pack and and inhaler, and pain med's from coughing so much I was so sore. Well that was from nov-jan. Now I get these odd sharp back pains that go into the left side of my chest, shortness of breath, and pain I have to live on ALeve for a week. Thenif I lay on my left side there is a thumping around my heart area, but If I lay flat or on the right side nothing....I also with have a pain if I bend over and when I get out of bed in the morning. ALmost going up my trachea, and a gurggling feeling. I did find something called spontanous pheunomax, but I am not sure if that is what I have or not. If feels like fluid on my lungs also... very strange. ?

For both of you it's time to see the doctor again. Having Pneumonia is serious and can lead to secondary Pneumonia. Pneumonia can cause fluid in the lungs the same as Bronchitis. Both are hard on the body so see a doctor, get medication and take it easy. It's better to go for a walk than run. It's important to keep the lungs clear. When you go to bed prop yourself up on a pillow or two so you aren't laying flat. This will help your breathing and give a clearer passage for air to get to your lungs.

Can standing out in the rain or in cold weather cause you to get pneumonia?

Pulmonary pneumonia (pneumonia) is actually an infection of the lungs by fungal, bacterial, or viral pathogens leading to respiratory distress. It is not uncommon for an individual to develop pneumonia as a secondary infection following/concurrent-to an upper-respiratory illness. Those with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder; emphysema) are generally more prone to lung infection, for instance, and pneumonia can often affect those recovering or suffering from a nasty bout of flu.

Contrary to popular misconception, cold weather does not give you cold/flu/pneumonia or an infection of any kind. While cold weather and exposure can weaken an individual and render them more easily prone to infection, it is in fact during warmer, more humid weather than respiratory diseases tend to be more likely and more highly-transmissible.

A good reason for this is that warm, damp conditions are more conducive to the survival and proliferation of bacterial or fungal pathogens. Drier conditions tend to mitigate the survival of pathogens in the environment, whereas colder weather may help preserve them in a less active state- some viruses may even be transmitted via bacterial vectors, meaning that their transmission is potentially more likely in conditions that favour bacterial survival (warm/damp).

So no, cold weather does not give you an infection, but being exposed to cold can weaken an individual and render them more prone to infection. For those already suffering from respiratory complications, almost any adverse weather conditions (cold or hot) can lead to a substantially increased likelihood of infection. The elderly and infirm are far more likely to succumb to illness in adverse weather conditions also, though pneumonia can affect anybody, regardless of age.
