Did Pocahontas care about john smith's life?
No.She didn't save Smith. The story we know is not true. Actually the colonist landed in an area of 14,000 Native Americans and in the worse land in the area. Powhatan pretty much left them alone. I think he figured that they would die from the bad water and disease . He was fairly right. Within 6 months there were only 34 men left alive of the 104 who came. It wasn't until after his death that the brother of Powhatan attacked the colony. The story about Smith is also not true. He did NOT save Jamestown. He was only there a very few months and he lied about his contribution to the settlement in a book he wrote several years later. He also made up the story about Pocahontas and she died young so couldn't refute his story. The man who did save Jamestown was the husband of Pocahontas and gave tobacco seeds to the colony. That was John Rolfe.

What effect on history did Pocahontas make?
Historically she had very little effect on history, or the events of her day. It was only after her death that she was given romanticized status through modern (and fanciful) story telling. Most of (if not all of) the stories and books about her, modernly more so, are fanciful tales based on two historical facts (if that) about her relations with the Jamestown Colony. The 1995 Disney version is so far removed from the facts that it is considered complete fantasy.

The short answer is no, not really.
Pocahontas was from a nation of Indians, the Powhatan. It was composed of tribes which spoke an Algonquian language. That quia in the word is important it denotes a family of related languages. The Europeans encountered a tribe called Algonquin. They latter encountered tribes that spoke similar languages. Powhatan was just such a similar language.
To make things more complicated the term "Algonquin Indian" has come to denote practically any Indian nation of the eastern woodlands that spoke an Algonquian language. This is not technically correct but it is very common.
So to review.
Pocahontas was not an Algonquin indian.
The Powhatan spoke a language that was a member of the Algonquian language family.

Is there a family tree for Pocahontas?
There might be. Her son in his late teens or early 20's returned to Jamestown from England. After his mother died he was raised by his aunt. He returned to Jamestown, got married, and raised a family there. He had 6 children and the last reference about him is in his 90's when he signed over the land he inherited from his mother and grandfather to the city of Jamestown. I would imagine that a family tree could be traced from his children and from his father's side. It might be hard to find information on his mother's side.
