Most common illnesses for poodles?
Since poodles are so skinny they have very weak bones so they can be easilly broken by jumping off of something. I have a 1 and a half year old miniature poodle and when he was six months old he had some kind of heart problem. I found out that poodles can carry desieases without even getting sick and then spread it their puppies. What happened is, a valve going to his heart had a hole in it and the blood was falling out of the valve. This may not happen to your poodle but before you breed your two poodles, get them both checked really well so that this doesn't happen to your dog. (P.S. My pupy survived. we took him to U.C. DAVIS and he had surgery. Now he is a healthy, energentic poodle. I recemend U.C. DAVIS if your dog ever gets really sick!) Hope this helped!
One Answer:Regarding "toy" poodles - as they age, they commonly develop cataracts. These can eventually blind them, sometimes long before they near their life expectancy (which is pretty long at 12-15 years), but if they're "inside" dogs they'll adjust. The eggs and sperm contain the material that is used to create a new animal or person. These are found in almost every animal although not all animals reproduce sexually.

Why are poodles not seeing eye dogs?
1) Poodles don't have the temperament to be seeing eye dogs. They can be high strung and seeing eye dogs are always "on duty" as a working dog.
2) Poodles can and are being used as seeing eye dogs. They are not as common as some of the well-known breeds (Labs, Goldens and German Shepherds) though for several reasons. They are not as likely to be taken seriously as the more popular breeds, and people not looking past the curly coat to read the vest or the harness might deny the guide dog access to a place where it is legally allowed. They are also not as popular with the public as the common guide dog breeds, and therefore it may to hard to find large numbers of fit dogs to train. Also, poodles as a breed can be more reserved then the three breeds listed, though a well-bred well-socialized poodle should do just fine in any situation.

How long does a small poodle dog live?
Generally little dogs live longer than big dogs. Some big dogs may live ten years or less, while a small dog may get to be 15 to 18 years if they are well taken care of. I wish everyone lived longer to be, like, a hundred years old. But, most people would live to be too ugly. ~Spectra22 and Whateve22. (Especially animals!! I absolutely LOVE animals!!)
