Is Ritalin really effictive in treating ADHD?

Answer: Ritalin is an effective drug for treating ADHD because it releases an chemical in the brain called dopamine which helps to improve the concentration levels and attention of the person who is taking the drug, so yes it is an effective drug for treating ADHD.

Does water help in getting adderall out of your system?

Yes, especially right before your test. Coming from experience (failed an non failed UAs), you wanna drink 2 large glasses starting 2 hours before your UA, then drink 12oz Gatorade and 16oz water everytime you urinate after that. About 30-60min before your UA you should be having to urinate every 5ish minutes, this is good, urinate as much as possible, than at UA give them middle of your urine (it should be pretty clear). It dilutes the water so theres less metabolites in the overall volume of sample, thus decreasing change of getting detected. But theres def luck involved, stop using adderal preferably 4 days before UA to be safe.

What is another name for methylphenidate?

Methylphenidate is the generice (chemical) name for the brand name drug Ritalin. It is a Central Nervous System stimulant that acts on the brain in the same maner as Cocaine (with a longer half life and slower onset of action). It is prescribed for ADHD and sometimes off label for weight loss. It is a schedule II controlled substance in the United States (the strictest schedule for prescribed drugs, schedule I drugs being available solely for research purposes).

I am an RX Technician and can personally testify to the addictive potential of Methylphen. I cannot tell you how upset customers have become when there has been a delay due to insurance coverage or other billing issues related to the prescribing of this drug. It has been made very clear to me that certain customers felt that they could not function or live their lives normally without taking this substance daily. I would equate its addiction potential to opiates.

If it is your first time taking Adderall and you dont have ADHD how long till the side effects are gone?

It depends on the milligram of the Pill, and if it's an extended release capsule or if it's a tablet. The extended release (xr) capsules have beads inside the capsule. There are two different types of these beads, one of them gets absorbed immediately and the other is made to take longer to absorb and doesn't effect you until the other immediate release beads wear off. that way you can feel the effects all day. and the tablets are all immediate release so all the pill gets absorbed into your body at once and you get stronger but shorter effects. So now that I've explained it to you, the adderall xr would last about 12 hours as long as your doctor has given you an appropriate dose that works for you. And the adderall tablets would last probably at the most 7 hours also as long as you got the appropriate dose.

How long does adderall piss clean?

Adderall is a mixture of racemic amfetamine and dexamfetamine salts (4 specifically) that is considered water soluble (as opposed to lipid soluble), therefore it is not slowly eliminated from the body like certain benzodiazepines and THC. Generally it will not be detected after 48-72 hours depending on metabolism, kidney function, weight, etc. Sometimes it will not be detected after 24 hours (depending on the cutoff levels of the test) and sometimes only a few hours (this is not typical though).

I take drug tests for a treatment program I'm participating in, and I take Dexedrine as prescribed, but several hours after taking it that same day, I went to my monthly buprenorphine doctor. We followed the same protocols (drug test, vitals, etc.) and when I certified my urine sample had not been tampered with, rigged, etc. I noticed it only detected the buprenorphine and benzodiazepines.

So really, it goes to show you the accuracy of these tests and they can vary wildly.

What happens if you take unprescribed adderall?

First of all, I am not an attorney, nor am I an expert at criminal law. My advice if off of firsthand experience and is not meant to be considered as fact in any manner. Please, feel free to refine this answer if there are any errors or help fill in the areas which need further clarification - for I did not have the time to look at all the criminal codes, or state laws, nor did I have the time for any references. Nevertheless, depending on your probation officer, he/she may or may not charge you with Possession of Dangerous Drugs. Also, depending on how you got the Adderall (i.e. fake script, or by using a false name), you might also be charged with Fraudulently Obtaining Dangerous Drugs - both charges are considered serious offenses in many states, and are most often classified as felonies (especially the latter). Unlawfully possessing 1 or 100 tablets of an DEA regulated Schedule II narcotic (i.e. Adderall) is illegal and depending upon which state you reside in, it can carry anywhere from a maximum of 1-20 years in prison, depending on the quantity as well as several other factors. There is even the possibility that federal sanctions could be applied. My opinion: If you are caught with it Adderall in your possession, and it is a first time offense in addition to having no prior criminal history, odds are that not much will happen to you, especially if you only have one pill in your possession - it all depends. But if you are on probation (as you stated you were) for a similar offense or if you have been arrested for drugs in the past - you might night fair to well. As I said - it all depends. Good luck!

Can you take 100mg of Vyvanse?

The highest dose available for Vyvanse is 70 mg, so you would have to take two 50 mg capsules. You would have to contact your insurance company to see if they will charge double for having twice the amount of a monthly prescription.

Will Adderall cause you to drink?

I have been taking Adderall for a year, 20 mg twice a day. I'm also taking Wellbutrin 150 mg 3 times a day, and Levoxyl 100 mcg once a day. I'm now a graduate student, and have been a certified pharmacy technician since 1995. I drink occasionally and have not noticed any problem. I'm a 47-year old overweight female and my blood pressure has been OK (these meds and alcohol could increase BP. What I do is read all the package inserts for all medications I'm taking, and then call or speak to a pharmacist. They're the experts in drug interactions, and usually they'll end their comments with "ask your doctor". I don't always follow all advice, but at least I'm informed.

Taking Adderall will definitely decrease your tolerance for alcohol. Specifically why, I'm not entirely sure, but I would expect it to have something to do with it being a stimulant and therefore allowing your body to move the alcohol into your bloodstream. This, of course, will lead to becoming intoxicated much sooner than under "normal" (unmedicated) circumstances. For instance, unmedicated, I can consume ~6 beers before feeling the effects; when on Adderall, I feel these effects after 2 or 3. If this is a attributable to Adderall being a stimulant, I would suspect non-stimulant alternatives, such as Straterra, to not exhibit this effect.

There may be other consequences to drinking while on Adderall that I'm not aware of. Perhaps others will fill us in with their knowledge.

How long is dextroamphetamine in the bloodstream?

I took 500mg, and i weigh 150lbs. i still feel messed up now and its 26 hours after ingestion.

Dextromethorphan (DXM) stays in your blood on average about 4 days. I repeat, that's on average. The range of days is around 3 - 5 if you are not being safe about it. If you want to be completely safe because of a drug test, make sure you have a week of sobriety before the test so you come out negative for drugs. Remember, DXM is the only over-the-counter (OTC) drug that shows up in tests now, and it shows up in most of them. Also remember that the only drugs that can be found are the ones they are testing for. If they aren't testing for it, they won't find it.

I do not condone drug use... In other people... lol... ok well i do not promote it anyway...

Can long term adderall uses cause short term memory loss?

I am not sure since I have been doing some research, and turned up little data. However, anecdotally my interest comes from being unable to recall much of my childhood from before I went off ADHD meds at the age of 9-ish (about 3 years). I am only 25 & have heard of others having similar experiences--but there is not much study on the issue. Hopefully we can find out more.

Basically, be cautious with psyche meds. They can in many cases be quite harmful, but make a really positive impact on some people's lives. Just track how you or your child/friend/etc are doing & don't let yourself get carried away by a drug-happy psychiatrist . Good luck

Can you order adderal online without a prescription?

No, not legally. You must consult with your doctor and obtain a prescription if this drug is needed.

Withdrawal help with Adderall?

Answer: This is a very good question and I'm glad you asked it. Not many people think that you can get addicted to Adderall just because a doctor prescribes it to you. This is because more than 3/4 of Americans believe if a doctor prescribes it to you , it can in no way be harmful[[which is totally untrue]] It is very difficult going through withdrawal from Adderall or any other stimulant for that matter (but especially Adderall since it is one of the more potent stimulants out there today)and here are the reasons why. Adderall is a very addictive drug physically and mentally. It is rough on your body and mind after high doses or long periods of time(or even both). There are tons of withdrawal symptoms, some of the more serious include : extreme fatigue and exhaustion (you wake up feeling exhausted instead of refreshed), severe depression(may lead to suicial thoughts or behaviors),psychosis(seeing and/or hearing things that are not real, or losing touch with reality, having hallucinations), paranoia(becoming highly suspicious or accusing people of things), rapid/irregular heart rhythms, extreme feelings of emptiness or discontent( nothing occupies you, strange feelings of boredom towards usually fun activities), headaches and nausea, insomnia (hard to fall asleep);anxiety and or panic attacks (feeling overwhelmed, worrying, and feeling anxious, chest hurts, and its hard to breath, sweating), irritability and intense anger, and many more. These were literally all I could think of that I experience on a daily basis from withdrawal. hope this helps.****

What is the normal dosage of Adderall for ADHD?

The normal dosage of Adderall (amphetamine) varies from person to person. Factors such as age, tolerance, and weight all affect the required dose. To be safe, most doctors work from the lowest dose and increase it until side effects are seen.

Can you take Adderall if you are allergic to sulfa drugs?

Yes you can take adderall. adderall is not a sulfa (short for sulfonamide) drug. Adderall contains a sulfate (salt) . This is very different from sulfa drugs which actually contain sulfur. the chemical structures of these drugs are very different. Sulfonamides have the structure (R-SO2-NH2) whereas adderall's structure is (C9H13N) so there is no cross-reactivity seen between these 2 classes of drugs. Look on the wikipedia site under sulfa drugs to see a list of all the (sulfa) drugs that would cause an allergic reaction. It shows a list of antibiotic and non-antibiotic sulfonamides.

This does not mean that you can not have a reaction to adderall but it would be for a dfferent reason.

Best way to get Adderall out of your system?

When I feel it wearing off I tend to get a headache, I become tired, and a bit irritable. But I'm sure different people have different reactions exspecially if people take them for non-prescribed reasons.

Do Adderall and Ritalin work the same way?

Amphetamine works as a dopamine transport substrate where as methylphenidate works as a dopamine transport blocker. Methylphenidate is most active at modulating levels of dopamine and to a lesser extent noradrenaline and serotonin.

Methylphenidate has a chemical structure more closely related to cocaine.

Amphetamine works by increasing extracellular levels of dopamine, noradrenaline and serotonin. With a highly adrenergic effect. There for the word speed.

Does caffeine negate the effects of Adderall?

No there is no caffeine in adderall. Adderall is composed of mixed amphetamine salts. However like caffeine, amphetamine is a stimulant and all stimulants increase the amount of the neurotransmitter dopamine in the brain, so in that sense they are similar. Adderall however is a much more powerful stimulant and also increases the amount of the neurotransmitter norephinehrine as well as dopamine.

Adderal is much more powerful since it is an amphetamine called dextroamphetamine, but it has the psychological attitude of "on top of the world to extremely depressed" which has to do with the dopamine not being released naturally anymore. But it can go back to normal if enough time passes.

Is it okay to take 50mg Strattera and 30mg Adderall XL together?

I had the same question, I also took an ADD medication with Lexapro. I was prescribed them at the same time. I did my research and found that you should NOT start taking them at the same time. Start one and start taking the other about 2 weeks after or they will interact. But other than that, you can certianly take them at the same time. Depression and ADD seem to go hand in hand a lot.

How long does withdrawal from dextroamphetamine last?

Usually about two or three days depending on your dosage, how long you have been taking them, and how much you have been takng at once.

Is it ok to chop up adderall and put it in a blunt?

The only two reasons to really crush Adderal is because the patient is having trouble swallowing, or because it is being snorted for a high.

If the patient is having trouble swallowing, there can be some other things going on. Instead of just crushing the tablets, the primary care physician should be consulted to make sure there is not a more serious underlying condition. They may also be able to switch the patient from a tablet to a capsule.

If the Adderal is being snorted for a high, even with a prescription, it is an illegal activity. Information on this will not be provided.
