Is a pharaoh the same thing as a emperor?

No, it is not the same thing.

A pharaoh was a king of the combined provinces of ancient Egypt, roughly equivalent to a king (but with added divine attributes and treated as a god). Egypt did have control over parts of other countries for very short periods but never successfully controlled an empire.

An Emperor (or Empress) is strictly someone who rules more than one country, as in the case of the Roman Emperors who ruled a vast empire centred on the Mediterranean Sea; or the British Empress-Queen Victoria who had sovereignty over India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, various African countries, many islands around the world as well as the United Kingdom - in terms of land area the largest empire that has ever existed on earth.

How did the egyptians use levers single pulleys and ramps to build the great pyramids?

That's one theory. Putting aside the UFOs lifted them into place proposal, there are suggestions that the stones were placed using one or more options. These may have been:

* levers and pulleys * rollers

* pivot stones and rocked forward

* an early cement and cast in place * installing round sides on the stones for final positioning

What is in King Tutankhamuns Antechamber and Annex?

there was a massive amount fo object in Tutankhamun's antechamber. some of the objects include:

  • animal shaped couches.
  • clothing.
  • alabaster vases.
  • perfumes.
  • trumpets.
  • a Crook. (which is a symbol of a pharaohs power)
  • gold jewellery.
  • makeup.

And heaps more, unfortunately when Carter opened the tomb and entered the Antechamber the entire place was in disarray and there was a hole in the wall which had to be re-sealed, suggesting that robbers had entered, which means that we will never really be able to tell all of what was in there when Tutankhamun was buried.

Who was the pharaoh that built the pyramids?

It is generally accepted that the Sphinx was built by Pharaoh Khafre - c2575 to c2465 BC - during the Old Kingdom, the age of the great pyramid builders. However there is possible evidence that the monument may be older than this for an inscription within the Great Pyramid, dating from 600 BC, records that Pharaoh Khufu-Khafre's father-carried out repairs on the Sphinx's tail and headdress.

Does Egypt still have pyramids?

Cleopatra was the last Pharoah and she committed suicide in the first half of the first century BC. Even before she died Egypt had become a colony of the Roman Republic.

In fact even Cleopatra and a few Pharoahs before her weren't Egyptian but Macedonian since they were descended from Ptolemy, one of the generals of Alexander the Great, who had conquered Egypt in the 4th century BC.

The current Egyptian head of state is President Hosni Mubarak.
The last pharaoh in Egypt is the famous Cleopatra the VII, she was the lover of Julius Caeser, and Marc Anthony, she had no surviving heirs, as they were all killed by Augustus/Octavian, Julius' nephew. She committed suicide after learning that Octavian had planned on imprisoning her. She was born in 69 BCE, in Alexandria Egypt, an reigned from 51 BCE to August 12th 30 BCE. Hope this helps:)

How were pyramids protected?

the pyramids actually look nothing today than what they looked like when they were first built. they did look quite amazing with brilliant white limestone out on the outer layer. but during the years the desert winds slowly wore away at the rock at one point the medieval villages actually came and took almost all of the outer rock to build castles. the pyramids mainly survived because the are not actually hollow but instead are good looking on the outside but a jumble of solid rock split into many pieces and jumbled together. so the pyramid is actually very very stable. and contrary to common beliefs they were not built by aliens.

How many slave where biulding the Great Pyramid?

The ancient Greek hstorian Herodotus said 100,000 slaves were used to build the great pyramid. A more realistic figure is about 20,000 to 30,000
Zero....They were not slaves, they were skilled workers from around the nation. The slave story is originally a Greek theory, but recent discoveries proved it wrong. "In addition to the many theories as to the techniques involved, there are also disagreements as to the kind of workforce that was used. One theory, suggested by the Greeks, was that slaves were forced to work until the pyramid was done. This theory is no longer accepted in the modern era, however, Archaeologists believe that the Great Pyramid was built by tens of thousands of skilled and unskilled laborers who camped near the pyramids and worked for a salary or as a form of paying taxes until the construction was completed. The worker's cemeteries were discovered in 1990 by archaeologists Zahi Hawass and Mark Lehner. Egyptologist Miroslav Verner posited that the labor was organized into a hierarchy, consisting of two gangs of 100,000 men, divided into five zaa or phyle of 20,000 men each, which may have been further divided according to the skills of the workers" - English Wikipedia. see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramids_of_Giza#Construction
